Global economic crisis affects milsurp sales

According to the November purchases thread I'm starting to agree. Prices have certainly NOT gone down regardless of the crisis. In many ways prices still continue to go up. No one is buying!

As for prices, for the demographic that is regularly purchasing collectible milsurps, there is no economic crisis.

No one look at me. I have bought 5 rifles in 4 months. 3 being milsurps.

That's usually where people will cut spending when they have less money. Think about it, if you were making the choice between food and paying the bills and buying another No. 1 MK IV what would be the likely choice?

What canuck98k is saying is that most people who collect expensive things like rifles don't work in industries that are likely to be affected by economic downturn.

I am sure it has an impact. Back in the days when firearms were an acceptable pawn item in Canada, you would always find LEs & M1 carbines in the pawn shop window from the down and out gunowners.

A visit to any US pawn shop right now would tell the same story.

True that. Which is why I buy whatever I can whenever it's available and decent prices.

Now, if they'd just let me shoot my FAL or Bren to burn some of that 7.62 NATO and 8mm I've been hoarding...........

Hard assets, like collectable arms, do well in recessions/depressions. We all get deals sometimes, but generally speaking the asking prices are far more than inflation.

Becoming a home owner has far more to do with my tight budget than the recession.
