Global warming is starting! Gophers are out!

Ya, very few landowners want you to manage populations for good hunting....lol We've taken about 250 off of a 20 acre patch in the past couple weeks. Strangely it's the only field they live in on this 1600 acre ranch. I suspect one more outing and we'll have them pretty well cleaned up and that field will be a bust for quite a few years to come. Seems a shame but the landowners wants them cleaned up.

Ya, one of the dangers of hitting gopher fields hard at this time of year before the females have had their young is that you can quite literally wipe out a population on a field. If it's a field that I want to keep shooting year after year, I wait till mid June before shooting it.

From your perspective. Farmers want to see the last of the damn things, better sooner than later. :) That's why the MD s supply strychnine under special licensing regulations. Haven't heard of anyone successfully shooting out a population yet.

Gopher dead on first shot, shooting ghosts after that?? Or, cold bore flyer, missed gopher, next shots hit home before he fell. Just pokin fun, I'm a happy camper 'cause I got to scratch the itch on some gophers.

Sorry missed this

I believe I pulled the last shot just being in a hurry. Had some gophers to kill :p

I did some advertising, offering gopher shooting as a free service, in the local paper and received a call from a local Hutterite Colony stating they have a ton that need shooting. Looking forward to head out there once the weather smartens up.

A couple pics from this afternoon...

Haha that's the one thing they don't want me to shoot! Apparently they are of the mindset that shooting the Alpha female will make the others go into heat, making more babies. Don't know if that's true (sounds reasonable)... but I'll still take a shot at the odd dog anyway. :)
