You gotta ask ? :) I'd go for it. Deluxe stock, nice wood, decent caliber, appears to be in great shape, long as the barrel is good.

Grizz

I've seen hack job sporters being sold at that price. That, to me, is as beautiful as a high-end Parker Hale or Churchill sporter. I have my beautiful unmolested Lee Enfields, but I also have a sporter that I've tweaked to suit me. If I saw that rifle at that price and it had a good bore, matching serial numbers, and good head spacing, I'd snap that up in a second!

By the posts so far: buy it and see what it will do. It has a base ($$) so use a scope to see if it fits and shoots. If it is not for you resell it. You really have nothing to loose except ammo and time. If you don't want it tell us who and where contact and someone here will grab it. Good luck.

on the surface it looks like a decent conversion. $225 is a good price if it turns out to be a decent shooter.

Globe firearms was a impoter based in Ottawa from the early 50"s to the mid 60's they impoted military firearms and did I house sporter conversions they also imported sportes with there name on them . This was a common practice back in the day century arms was another candian company that did the same .

I agree. I'd bet this was a PH or Churchill or Sussex from Britain re-branded "Globe". It's too nice for a Gobe job. Some of the Globe conversions were pretty nutty. I had a Swiss 1889 straight pull "sporterized" and converted to 30-30. Didn't they re-chamber Italian Carcanos to 6.5x54 Mannlicher too? And of course the Globco "Mohawk" 303 semi-auto from converted Tokarev rifles.
