Globe firearms LTD

ok when i hear them being compared to sons of gun only worse i start to get worried

sorensens page says hes not accepting anymore work so ill try the other one ,thanks

I dont really know much, but this rifle looks to be put together alright

anybody have any idea what its worth in working order?

Im sure its fired 308 rounds lots before ,the guy I bought it from was an avid hunter

I'm interested in the outcome of this. As Shell Shucker mentioned, .308 Win is WAY beyond what the Krag action was designed to handle pressure wise. It may handle those pressures, but for how long? Every commercial .308 round fired through it would be like a proof load or worse. Handloading to reduced pressures would be the way to go.

ok so just got back from pullen and its all good

apparently theres austrian proof marks on it and its been nitro proofed whatever that means.he also mentioned that the action had been heat treated I believe.

anyways we fired a couple factory 308 through it and it worked fine, makes me feel a bit better i guess.

the only problem he said was the extractor was a bit weak but still worked fine

oh also the barrel had 59 on it so i guess it was reworked in 1959

i guess its one of the few from globe that isnt a total piece of garbage

That's good news, but I would still handload for the beasty seeing as how it
is still a single locking lug rifle. Remington Reduced Recoil loads would be
a good choice in factory ammo.
Let us know how it shoots.

well they actually mentioned it isnt single locking lug at least they were looking at it saying oh it actually has 2 lugs one here and one here.and It seemed they were saying the the bolt locking down was one of the lugs ....like i say I dont know much bout guns so im prolly talking out my azz

The handle isn't counted as a lug by conventional standards. While Krag's are claimed as one of the smoothest bolt action, they are also one of the weaker ones; sadly

I also have a Globco Krag conversion in 308 Winchester. It shoot excellent with factory loads and really accurate. This is the second one I owned in 308 Win.
I should have kept the first one but you know how it goes. Got to keep those bills paid.
As far as removing the bolt all you have to do is lift up slightly on the extracter and lift up on the bolt handle. Then pull straight back.

ye figured it out seems very well made actually

going to put some rounds through it tomorrow seee how accurate it is

btw great tip on pullens they had surplus ammo for my sks, and they didnt charge me for inspecting the gun either

Back to the taking out the bolt issue. I once bought a Krag carbine 30US, in really nice condition, that a fellow had used for moose hunting for forty years.
In his kitchen, I couldn't see how to get the bolt out, so he procceeded to show me. When he sprung the extractor, then more, then--, I said, "No, no, that's OK, I don't have to take it out."
And I never did take it out. Just couldn't stand to but that much strain on the extractor.

ye its definetly the kind of bolt you dont want to keep messing with like someone said if you break your pretty much hooped.

but ye fired 40 rounds from it today without a hitch it kicks like a mule but dam accurate
