Glock 17--115gr or 147gr bullet weights??

"heavier bullet = less felt recoil" is only half the paradigm. "heavier bullet combined with fastest powder = less felt recoil"

Given the flame I've seen come out of barrels when WWB ammo is fired, I'm guessing Winchester uses a pretty slow burning powder in their white box loads.

Really? Do tell?

And how exactly should Grandpa steal sheep, grandson?

:)

Cheers, man!

I shoot mostly 115gr FMJ but it is for no particular reason, I use this bullet weight in all my 9mm pistols. An Internet friend, Stephen A. Camp, shoots and likes 124gr 9mm rounds. I like and respect Stephen A. Camp; therefore, putting my thoughts aside, shoot 124gr bullets. Regards, Richard:D

Actually, recoil has more to with bullet weight and it's muzzle velocity than just bullet weight alone. It takes more force to accelerate a larger bullet, thus the recoil is larger. Newton's second law, force equals mass x acceleration, remember?

If a heavier bullet equaled less felt recoil, why does a 230gr .45 ACP recoil more than a 115gr 9mm? It does because the .45 is not moving that much slower out of the muzzle, 835 ft/s vs 1190 ft/s for the 115gr 9mm.

The reason the 147gr 9mm feels like less recoil is because they're moving slower than the 124gr or 115gr bullets. Take a look at Winchester's website and compare the 9mm FMJ's.

Holy crap, only one post away from 4000, are you Bartledan?

Also, what were you on when you wrote that?

I'm kidding with the guy about how I already well know what it is that he said in his thread.

You know:

"Don't teach you grandad to steal sheep"

Cheers, guys :)
