Glock 17: 2000 Rounds - No cleaning, No lube

Not my cup of tea but to each there own, may reduce the value of the gun though

I'm not really concerned with what the stippling does to the value of my G17. I have skateboard tape on the top of the slide that is full of dirt and dead skin. The grip force adapter, which is stippled as well, is almost white with dead skin rubbing off the web of my hand. It's set up to shoot, not to look at.

Stippling is not mandatory.
You're right, it's not mandatory.

But if you've tried shooting a stock Gen 3 when it's wet, or dusty, or muddy, or sweaty you quickly find out the value of adding texture to your grip.

I use skateboard tape. Downside was all my uniform shirts ended up with holes in them.

There are other ways to get a better grip then carving up a gun..

Considering the lower cost of a G17 (or any Glock for that matter) to other polymer framed pistols, I wouldn't hesitate to do it myself. They are absolute workhorse that just won't quit pretty much no matter what so why not adjust it to the way you want it. Once you're done with it, whatever how many rounds later, you'll have gotten your money's worth and will have had a pistol that worked w/o the grip being an issue.

I don't really care for Glocks for no valid reason other than they look like lumps, remember I said "no valid reason". Well they don't fit me that well either. Nonetheless that stippling job really caught my attention, I like it! I can imagine that it is very functional, I like mods like this - take a tool and make it better. I am going to try the friction tape on my M&P 9. Thanks for your post.

I have to laugh at all of the comments around here about how this or that will negatively impact the resale value of a firearm, all the while 99.7% of the posters swear that they NEVER sell their guns!

Use it, modify it, improve it, enjoy it.

I think I'll run a 4k test through my Glock this year.

I think it would be interesting to have "test report" for 4000-5000 rounds with a Glock - Sr1911 - Reming R1e - Beretta 92fs - M&P - ?? - from diferents platform within budget of 600-1000$ , real report with true history of rounds going trought the pipe and impartial comments on how the guns runs ...
:)

Holy crap! Have pics of it?; hows it holding up?

Not really much to see - holster wear on the sharp edges, lots of finish wear to the breach face, some gouges inside the mag well, and the finish is worn on the barrel where it locks up. There is some wear to the 'ears' on the sear block and locking block, but none what so ever on the inside of the slide rails. I think when I get it over 45K I'm going to rebuild the gun - dye pen and x-ray for cracks in the slide, then put new blocks in both ends, all new springs, new striker and maybe splurge on a new barrel - and start all over again.
