GLOCK 17 Accuracy - shots landing left

That made me laugh out loud. You make it sound like the 1911's are some kind of "cheating" rather than just admit they that are just easier to shoot well than a Glock. Hehehe.

I wouldn't say they're easier to shoot. There are many with 1911's who still can't hit sh*t. This comes down to the fundamentals of marksmanship. However, you are correct, the 1911 platform aids the shooter by covering up ones flinch with short and light trigger pulls. The same triggers are more forgiving with regards to improper finger placement and working the reset as well.

If the 1911 is easier to shoot than others as you say. Then I guess its safe to say those who can shoot anything but a 1911 well, are better overall shooters than those who run a 1911.

The fundamentals make the difference, not the gear. Again, the 1911 crowd is often comprised of those who believe they can solve a software problem with a hardware solution.

TDC you are such an glock fan boy :D. you just cant give credit to this 100 year old design. you always say stuff like " you put a glock in a pro's hand, it will out shoot a $5000 custom 1911 in a newbie's hand" when you do a compare, you compare the 2 in hands of someone with similar skill level. the fact that glocks will always have that slack in the trigger, it will never give the shooter that clean break an SA trigger gives you for fast, accurate first and fallow up shots. that's a fact .clean pull is an advantage for 1911 and some how you turn it around and calling 1911 shooter require less skills to shoot well . well why dont Glock just do some design changes so that the SA mode trigger feels like what an SA trigger should be.

Why change the design of the Glock? I shoot them just fine thanks as do many others, and the trigger isn't an issue. I've given credit to JMB and the 1911, its one of the founding designs for semi auto handguns. They were top of the line for many years. That isn't the case anymore. Both technique and technology have advanced beyond the 1911 design.

The 1911 shoots relatively well in untrained hands due in part to the short and light trigger pull. An untrained shooter firing any DA/DAO pistol will immediately see the difference in performance. The reason, DA/DAO pistols require the shooter to understand and apply the fundamentals of marksmanship.

I am indeed a Glock fan boy. I appreciate a well engineered no BS system that excels in the role it was designed.

True, but Britney Spears has way more CD's out there than Aretha Franklin. Doesn't mean she is a better singer. It just means they are better marketing, trendier, or all of the above. There is a higher demand for ford F150's than Toyota Tundra's but that doesn't mean it is a better truck.

But I hear where you are coming from.

Never have problems again is pretty awesome. Is the holy grail in the DVD case?

Usually the videos come with the message: "The DVD is not a substitute for hands on training with an experienced instructor"

The DVD's might have helped you prevent a bad habit, but if you are well into a routine and still shooting one way, you probably aren't going to be able to self correct as readily starting over based on watching a DVD (even a magic one!) as you are from getting an half hour of professional or experienced coaching.

Reading comprehension is your friend. I said "follow the advice..." which doesn't in any way mean that just watching the dvd is enough.

BS flag - not everything with a Tupperware frame is a copy of a Grock. There are WAY more 1911 manufacturers out there...

Really? Are you saying the Walther p99, S&W M&P, Steryr M9, S&W Sigma(which S&W was sued over), Taurus Pro Series, Kahr Arms, SIG P250, Beretta PX4 storm, and of course the Springfield XD aren't direct copies or heavily inspired by Glock? Have a look at the overall shape/design of the pistols above. Some are blatant copies while others are slightly different. Same can be said for the controls. The slide lock on the SIG p250 screams GLOCK!

On a side note, SIG now offers a SIG 1911 and not the GSR. Have a look at the P238.

Maybe this will help????

Let us know.

Paul

I wonder if this works for a lefty shooter? I guess you would have to reverse everything around.

It's not a start! Nemesys says you WILL NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS AGAIN after you watch a video. That's a miracle, not a start.
