Glock 17 Accuracy

Just shooting from the reset probably won't fix a flinch or a yank that brings the gun off target. Learning to pull the trigger smoothly, from reset or the full length, will improve his accuracy. If he can't do it now, doing it slowly so he gets a "surprise break" is a sure way to learn it. Once he's practiced enough that he's not yanking or flinching, he can start going faster, if speed is what he's after. I only saw accuracy mentioned in his post.

My sight picture includes a fuzzy/blurry image of my sights aligned on the target. I bring my sight picture into my field of view. Relying on my hand eye coordination to ensure my sights are on target.

Your definition of 'point shooting' is obviously different than mine...
If you are aligning your shots with the sights, regardless of them being fuzzy, you are still using the sights.

IMO, Point shooting is coming completely off your sights, either over top of them, under, or to the sides -no I'm not refering to retention.

I can't seem to hit sh...t with my G17. On the other hand my buddies borrow it and get fantastic results without effort. What am I doing wrong? I know what's going in your heads ;) <learn to shoot>. But when I shoot my Sig 226 or the Beretta 92 I have no issues like this.

Is the gun too light at the front? Do I need to change the trigger or get a custom barrel? Is it my technique? Where do I start from?

If you're not that far from ESSA, contact Stormbringer on this forum. He may/should be able to help you.

What I'm describing with my fuzzy sight picture is what I refer to as "mix" shooting. Where you are conscious of your sights but are not using them. When I point shoot I am not using sights at all. The pistol is close to eye level but I am looking over top of the pistol at the target and target only.

Well, after reviewing the videos and his web site, I'd have to say D.R. Middlebrooks is quite the accomplished shooter....definately above par with a pistol, sights or not.

TDC, If you are ever around Calgary, maybe you could come out to TSE on a Wed. night and expand on this?
