Glock 17 as first Pistol?

i just ordered mine yesterday :) cant wait for it to arrive!!!

i shot one for the first time a few weeks ago and that's what made me do the pal/rpal and get my license. they are reliable and are great starter guns.

The Glock 17 is probably the only pistol you'll ever need. Well, maybe something in 10mm Auto down the road.

The G17 was my first centrefire pistol.

Norinco M93 was my first pistol, and fifth.

In between bought a Norinco NP34, 1911 and M213.

The G17 is the gun I use to offset claims that I'm a Chicom loving sellout.

I love it too.

Glock 17 was my second pistol. Beretta vertec 96 inox was my first. I wish I bought the glock first. Cheaper to feed and I find it more accurate than the Beretta. I have since bought a Glock 20 and a HK USP tactical cause I needed to move up to more manly calibers. The 10mm being the manliest :)

Thanks for all the input guys, I really apreciate it. I just sold a motorcyle, so I have some cash in my hand! Now I have been checking on prices and Blue Line seems to be the best price, but I have never dealt with them and they haven't responded to an Email I sent two days ago. I don't like that. Picky?....probably :D. How long does the transfer take from purchase to "in my hand?" I have had good dealings with Frontier and I am leaning that way again...:). I have heard that CanAm takes quite awhile to get a piece in your hand, but that is only what I have read. When it comes down to $20 differrence in price, I would rather go with the retailer that wants my business.

Well.....

I shot both a couple of Glocks and then a CZ Shadow that had a trigger job. Based on this I bought the Shadow for what it could be turned into with a trigger job. But even the stock Shadow has a nicer trigger than a stock Glock for my tastes. YMMV of course. As for accuracy I found that I shot equally as well with the Glock as with the CZ Shadow. And in both these cases the groups were better than with other options. Those being a Berreta 92FS, S&W M9 and a Steyr 9mm. An STI Trojan in 9mm is actually a nicer gun to shoot than either the Glock or the CZ Shadow. Both the trigger feel and the groups are nicer and tighter than all the others.

Why I chose the CZ over the Glock in my case was for the overall feel of a steel gun over a plastic gun in recoil and for the overall look and feel of the CZ which just looked better to my eyes and felt tighter in every way on all the controls.

The best option as I mentioned in my post on page one is to do what you need to do to get to try out both options prior to buying.

I have to admit the CZ is a great gun. My wife wanted to get a different gun and transferred her Bul Storm(same as CZ) to me. Sometimes I like it better than my G17 ;)

I bought one when they first came out in the 80's. Sold it a few years later and always regretted it. Just ordered a new one a few days ago from Police Ordnance (who have the best prices anywhere ). Can't wait for it to arrive.
