I had a brain fart while I was field stripping my Glock 17. I accidentally removed the slide while a mag was in. There was some resistance when i was trying to slide the slide off of course, but a light push was enough to slide it off. It made a light but nasty sound. Did I just fubar my Glock? The slide still locks and everything seems to be working normally... I'm just really anal when it comes to my guns.

Just make sure in the future you remember to prove you weapon properly. Drop the mag, rack it several times, lock the slide back, check for obstructions and then and only then commence disassemby.

I don't want to sound condescending but I'm sure some accidental discharges are caused this way. The proper clearing method is not used and the operator tries to disassemble with a loaded Mag. The steps are forgotten by the operator and the hammer is dropped with a live round in the chamber. Although you didn't have a loaded mag in the pistol this time.

^^^ There is no hammer in a glock :)

Yes ensure your firearm is safe which consists of removing the mag. PROVE remember that one don't you ;)

Internal hammer then. If that is the only fault you can see in what I said maybe everyone should just continue the way they do business as long as they aren't around me when they do it.

considering that to disassemble a glock you have to pull the trigger, it may be a good idea to take the mag out ;) and clear the firearm

anyhow, it should be fine - put it together and run through a few tests

You are right but I rack my slide all the way back to inspect the chamber once deemed clear I ease the slide back and pull the trigger with gun facing in safe direction.

YMMV.

But if it's not, you don't. And for what its worth, you can check the chamber without racking the slide far enough back to reset the trigger. At least on my 17 and 21c??

IF you have proven the pistol properly, you do have to pull the trigger.

Leet press checks off Call Of Duty 5 are the reason people fricken shoot themselves. You can't inspect the feed path, the chamber, then look down the barrel if you are holding the thing open partially.
