I received my Glock 17C today. :dancingbanana:

This pistol has been on my "must get" list since I started looking into handguns. Back then however, they used to cost anywhere from $1100 - 1350 + tax! :runaway: I bought this one from Wolverine Supplies for $757 + taxes/shipping.

I'll be hitting the range later on this afternoon. :D

The 17C is one of my "must try" handguns. I'd assume that the compensator must have a significant affect on the muzzle rise or else they wouldn't produce them. But I'd like to hear your thoughts after your range session, in particular if the "C" designation is worth buying over the normal G17.

I owned a 31C for a bit and I loved it. Barely any muzzle flip at all and one hell of a light show. Those .357 sig rounds move like a bat out of hell but you'd barely notice.

If you put a DPM on that Glock 17C with the magnetic damper, you would think you are firing a .22 pistol. Its smooth as butter.

:agree:

I would love to get a chance of shooting the two one after the other just to feel the difference. Maybe Nine will have that opportunity and can post his impressions here.

I had a 17C and sold it a few months back. I'm not convinced that the compensator helps much to limit muzzle flip. I shot a standard 17 with the same ammo and didn't notice much of a difference between the two of them in regards to felt recoil or muzzle rise. One thing for sure....the 17C is loud. It's not a very pleasant experience to be next to when it goes off especially when indoors. Some guys I shoot with refered to it as the "Austrian Jack-Hammer".

Well back from the range. :D I love this thing.

I must say, that I find the porting makes a BIG difference in recoil. Check out this Video<147gr FMJ FP>:

I only had 80rnds of ammo. I went through it way too quick. :(

I had 2 stoppages with 115gr ammo, and most likely limp wristing combined with the ports. Not a single problem with the 147gr'ers. It is still "snappy", BUT if you keep a good grip and let the ports work, it is amazing. This has less felt recoil than my 41.6oz CZ SP-01. The trigger took a little getting used to... I started to get the hang of it, then ran out of ammo.

Here's a still from a video: You can see the "V" of the ported gases.

Good thread, good thread. Very well taken photos, makes the 17C look like a contemporary piece of art; albeit functional art. :shotgun:

Not trying to knock your gun, I just never understood why anyone would comp a 9mm. I can see it in a 40 or a 45 but not a 9mm.
