Any particular reason why you won't consider any Glock generation before 4? I mean, another way to look at is, is that they're "proven" designs without some of the bugs (RSA, trigger bar, etc.) that other have whined about the Gen 4s in various forums.

I'm a fan of the RTF, and the enlarged mag release. I found that I have to tilt the firearm an exorbent amount to release the mag on the Gen 3 models. Seeing as how I've not fired either, I can't give an opinion on the Dual-Spring assembly.

have a shadow ,but uses my G17 in production. i like the fact nothing is on the way of my grip . but it's all personal preference, and you must get a session with any gun to see if it fit your hands and grip .
me i shoot my G17 much better than my shadow. i have large paws, and glocks are tailored for my hands. a G17 is accurate enough for ipsc. many champions have won championships with that gun.
on top of that, with a little infos, glock triggers are easy to work/polish, you can improve the trigger feel/travel very easily with a dremmel . a little research on the web will tell you how.

I would gladly, but all my close dealers are either out of stock, or cannot order any in for the time being.
If you have handled other pistols and you still like the feel of the Glock, then I suggest you buy one. The biggest complaint i hear about the Glock is that it takes some time to get used to the grip and feel of it.
Glocks are fantastic shooters. Most accurate shooters? No, but more than acceptable for what you want to use it for. M&P's have adjustable backstraps, good for various hands.
9mm is good to start. As a new shooter, there will be less recoil, and it will be cheaper to shoot.
Some people have had problems with the Gen4's--new design can lead to problems but most of them have been worked out by now. As for feeding and reliability problems, it should be good.
Have shot the Gen 3's and Gen 4's. The Gen 4's, with the dual recoil spring feels like it has a little less recoil.
Never shot a CZ, so I cannot compare. Shot the M&P, nice gun, just partial to the Glock. Yes, I have drank the Kool-Aid.
If you do find one, see if you can stay away from the adjustable sights. This is personal, I know some on here like them, but I get a better sight picture with the standard glock sights. Glock night sights are good, if you could find a set of Warren tactical sights even better.
Get the gun. Shoot it. Shoot it a lot. Enjoy it. Shoot a friends gun that is not a Glock. You might like it better. You might not. Worse thing that can happen is you sell it to get another gun. Shoot it. Shoot it a lot. Enjoy it. Get my drift?
