Are all parts interchangeable between GEN 1 TO GEN 5 for the Glock 17? e.g. slides, barrels, trigger parts, etc.

As for the frames, slides and barrels for the Glock 17, how many rounds are they good for?

Are there any weak points with regards to this pistol?

Thank you for the insights!!

Nope. Some parts are interchangeable, some not.
Glock’s cold hammer forged polygonal barrels are extremely hard. Designed to fire thousands of FMJ bullets, the poly rifling has a very long life. The new generation 5 *Marksman* barrel is even better.

I would not be surprised to see a G17 or a G34 for example, to easily withstand 50K of quality factory ammo.

What happens at 50K? That's just a year or two for some.

Several years ago a ABC agency tested 9mm Glock Gen 5 pistols to see at what point they degraded accuracy beyond their acceptable useable standard & after 80,000rds of duty ammo they dropped below the acceptable standard for the agency & they stopped testing at 220,000rds as they decided the cost of barrel replacement vs ammo expenditure for their intended purposes was easily justified.

for how long gen5 has been on the market?

Why on earth would you buy a new barrel at 50K? Do barrels expire at 50K?

Is that a serious question or are you being obtuse? The same reason you would replace any barrel; because it no longer performs to a required specification. Maybe that number is 50k rounds, maybe it’s 100k rounds, maybe it’s 1 Million rounds. When the barrel no longer shoots as well as you want or require it to, you replace it.

So you're saying a barrel should be replaced when it's completely worn out? Geez, thanks tips!

With use things get worn out. Just like when a car had few hundred thousand km (if it still runs) it won't have the same acceleration and hourse power as it did when new.
