I've had it for more than a year and 1 out of 60-100 shots it fails to feed. Will not chamber the next round. When I take the mag out it chambers.... and sometimes the slide will not lock back after last shot. I've lubed it ( A little too much) and it resolves the problem for awhile. I'm thinking it might be low powered ammo or really stiff recoil spring. All my ammo choices have been all over the map. Is higher powered ammo/ heavier grain needed?

Any help would be great. Got my Black Badge course next week.

Any 9mm Glock should feed, fire and eject any commercial 9mm ammunition. In fact they're pretty famous for doing so. Have other shooters experienced the same type of failure with this particular Glock? If not, then you need to ensure that your wrists are locked when you fire the gun. The fact that it's a 60-100 round failure points toward this as the solution to your problem.

Does it have the latest recoil spring?

I have the same gun and I haven't experienced any of this. Mine was purchased a little under a year ago as well. I've not had to use any lube either though, and I've done about 5-600 rounds, and only cleaned barrel once or twice. I left the red grease on there as per Glock instructions. I bought a Glock for a reason and they are pretty durable :p I've shot 115gr and 124gr at factory 9mm levels with great success and honestly not a single FTE or FTF. I haven't gone through a lot of rounds yet, but I'd still consider the number quite good.

Maybe you should check with Glock about your gun having been done with the old recoil spring, they could tell you how it was when it left the factory.

Its very likely not the ammo if you've tried multiple factory loads.

The last shot slide lock could be prevented if your thumb is depressing the slide lock, this occasionally happens depending on your grip. Failure to chamber could be a limp wristing problem, but that would typically be accompanied by a stove pipe as well.

I doubt this is the issue, but check the feed ramp for obvious grit or grime, and clean if needed

So much for the gen 4 "bug" being fixed!!! lol

Glocks biggest mistake...was the gen. 4 Running what name that had left of being the "best pistol out there".

Sad.

Gen 3 or earlier sure...

Gen 4...recoil spring issues, ejector issues. Even the geometry of the ejection port is incorrect...

Sure their interchange backstraps is nice, texture is improved and the mag release is also improved IMO...but when the guns do not work 100%, does that matter?

Seen wayyy to many that do not work in person and countless more online to believe otherwise, sorry.

Impossible !! Glock are perfect , it is always the user's fault if not working!! Loll

I dunno Jeff, i had the Gen 4 Glock 17. It never let me down and ate all ammo i fed it. The Recoil spring issue was fixed long ago. That being said....i'm dying to get my paws on the HK45 i ordered. Just 7 or 8 short months to go.:p

Glad to hear your moving up to a big boys gun!!! :p

First off let me start by saying my other gun is a 1911 and I prefer the way it shoots and feels but...

3000 rounds and counting threw my G17 Gen4, wiped that factory grease right off on the first cleaning and yes it has the double recoil spring, not one FTF or FTE. No bull, not one. Nice clean ejection arch. Lots of types of ammo, even the cheap stuff has been put threw, and not one problem. Nothing. But I have heard these problems occurring to others, yet only online folk.

Wish I had an answer for the Op.

I don't know how new a shooter you are but you may be suffering from newbie overlubage, which I was guilty of. My M&P would run covered in anything but the Desert Eagle would start malfunctioning after a few mags. I slowly backed off how much oil I used, until there's just a thin film on things, no visible wetness, and all of my guns now run flawlessly. I run 30-50 rounds through the DE on every outing and have not had a hiccup since.

If I'm on the right track, try cleaning your gun, wiping it all down, put a tiny drop of oil on each of the 4 pads that the slide rides on and that's it. See how it behaves then.

OP go rent a range gun or borrow a buddies gun that's somewhat similar (like an M&P or something) and put 200 rounds of the same or similar ammo through it. If you don't have any issues you'll know it's your Glock and you can go from there..... if you get some stoppages maybe it is a technique thing?
