So, I’m looking at getting a Glock and was wondering what are the major difference between these two.

I know the G48 is single stack and it’s about $120 US cheaper.

Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on whether you want the cool new factor, or old reliable. Glock 17 fits most people and is a good size for control during recoil. I have a 17 and a 19 (48 is a single stack 19) and I like the 19 better though. Thing is I find the 19 just at the right size; I the single stack may be just a bit too narrow for me, it your results may vary.

I handled the 48 a bit while I was down south and liked the feel of it but its quite different than the double stack Glocks. Probably not the best for those with large hands but fit me Ok. I not sure I like the silver slide and if you already have Glock double stack mags, you are going to have to buy more single stack mags.

How big are your hands?

The major difference between the two is size.

I will always take the one that fits the most magazine types, and that's the 17 in this case. That's what I own now, and I'm really happy with it.

The G48 is I think really a 10rd mag "State" compliant pistol, it also has slight slim advantages for concealed carry in US state that have that.... In Canada it really doesn't matter cause were limited to 10 by the Tyranny anyway here. Try the Glock 17, 19 and or 48 and see what fits your hands best an get what suits you. Personally I like the finger grips on the Gen 4 and got that pistol mainly for the magazines for the FX-9 and the pistol as a free pack-in bonus.

So , I’m pretty sure it’s the 17 gen 5, but only because I read it has a better trigger than the gen 4.
But, I’ve also Been looking at the 34 :)

Decisions decisions:)

I have heard about lots between the Gen 4 and Gen 5....after holding each i'd still take the Gen 5 the trigger seemed the same to me though i'm no expert..the only difference I could see was the pattern of rifling in the barrel and the hand grip. Both seem to do the same thing. I think the Glock Gen 5 is a much better pistol for Police, military or other service use because it is more universal for right and left handers and different hand sizes. For personal use I don't think it really makes much difference and if your right handed with bigger hands then a Gen 4 should do you just fine.

I have small-ish hands and recently gave up my G17 for a G34 in favour of the longer barrel , cut-out slide and oem larger slide release lever as well as it’s compatibility with my current collection of Glock mags. It’s the exact same lower . Throw a few aftermarket springs into it and set of upgraded sights on it and call it done.

One more question.
How good can you make the trigger on a gen 4? At what cost?
I’ve read the gen 5 is 4.5 lb , that’s pretty good.

Oh ya, I’ve owned two 17 gen 4, but because of the trigger, I really didn’t give them a chance.

I just bought the Taran Tactical kit which has the disconnector, striker and plunger spring for $52 Canadian. I got it from Bob Vogel himself. The website prices are higher though.
It’s a drop in kit and you get about a 4.5 lb pull on it.

That’s sounds good.
I can pick up gen 4 for $600- $650 off the EE and another $50 for the trigger kit,
And it’s still a couple hundred less that a new gen 5.

I’m going to wait until Saturday, see what CSC Glock days sale has to offer.
