I'm having a problem with my G17 Gen4 spitting brass in my face. My googling has come up with some people saying it's the extractor, others the ejector and some people have replaced both. I was wondering if the good knowledgeable folks on CGN can tell me what I need to replace and where to source the parts?

this is a known gen 4 problem. Call the gunshop you bought it from and swap it out for another one or have them call glock to get the free parts you need.
Or buy aftermarket parts.

Common on GEN4 with original extractor. Glock will send a new one no charge, generally you get it through your dealer.
Once replaced it greatly reduces it. Still happens 1/1000 shots but much better then 1/75

Have you let anyone else try it? If, so did they have the same issue?

I ask because I don't have the problem when I shoot mine, but my wife eats brass until I remind her to grip the gun more firmly, then the problem goes away. It may not be the issue here, but it's worth considering before going through the hassle of exchanging it.

A G17 Gen4 30274 ejector and a non dipped extractor will fix it.

My glock gen2 did it, my friends gen 3 did it, and at least 20 more people if personally watched at ipsic matches do it too, with stock glock pistols, all gens .

Ammo power will primarily have the most direct affect . try a hotter or a colder round, is your easiest fix.
This is what I found, or spend more money to buy parts.

What black sunshine said. My gen 3 does it every once in a while, an I've seen my buddies 22 as 17gen4 do it as well. I would only consider it a problem if it was constant and consistent.

I bought it used from someone off the EE so no return to the dealer :( . I've had it for a few months and I recall it happened a few times with Federal 115gr stuff that I had but I only shot a box of that stuff here and there as I was trying to really stress test the Advantage Arms conversion kit I got. But I recently bought a bunch of Sellier and Bellot 124gr stuff that seems to toss brass in my forehead every second round (or so it seemed). It actually drew blood last time even! If it wasn't happening so frequently then I wouldn't be such a girl about this....I promise lol.

I guess I'll try to contact Glock then, thanks everyone!

It sounds like glock must be aware of the problem. Weird, my gen 4 never ejects towards my head.
Kennymo, alot of people dont like the m&p as much. Ive fired a few and prefer my glock, never tried an apex trigger though.

I have the Gen 4 17 and the Gen 3 RTF2 22 and neither do it. I did have it happen when I had a conversion kit for my RTF2 Model 22 but this was supposed to be common.

Cheers!!

to the op:
the thing is, you will need to switch some parts around and see which one works.
Some pople fixed the problem changing the recoild spring, some the extractor, some the ejector. Glock has different parts of each for the same gun and they are all numbered differently, so finding a combo that works, might be frustrating.
I would recommend getting apex parts that are high quality machined parts. I don't think the recoil spring will solve anything, but since you are getting parts get a new one too.

Go on youtube and google gen 4 brass to the face and you will see. The conversation is real, and the problem existed, there was never a real solution for this issue except for changing parts around.

Try Brownells for all of the parts.

over and out.

Cheers.
