Help...New Glock 17 will not slide lock on the last round! Any suggestions or help will be great. Nothing broken or unusual when it was field stripped.

Thanks

I had that exact same problem with my Glock the first time I shot it. Turns out I was riding the slide release with my thumb. I came form shooting a 1911, where a high grip is used, just so happens with the same grip, my thumb was getting the slide release. Check your grip, that is my bet anyways.

Here's a link to the thread that I started.

I have seen people complain about the slide not staying back, but it was there thumb that was to blame the whole time.
If not that,I'd put my money on the follower/magazine..

1 Mag? try another
2 Thumb- stopping upward movement of slide lock.
3 Ammo-insufficient gas.

If your thumbing it high... watch out Glocks can slice meat off.
unless, your want to open a deli at the range.

??? I ride my thumb on the slide for a very high grip, never made smoke meat out of it.. not sure how you would cut anything since no sharpe edges are present. If you do ride your thumb above the catch keep the thumb loose, but there always is a risk of blocking the slide catch. If not then keep the thumb in the groove below the catch.

I agree with the thumb on slide lock or the mag, I have one that will not lock the slide open.
