Glock 17 Mag Well Damage

I have not seen the frame in question, but I have seen this happen to a polymer gun before where brass has cut into a frame this was over 15+ years ago and was a fluke... the cut was only about 1/4" deep.

Now if he had a couple in the magwell of the frame it can make a gun look like sh!t. But I also think a magwell will cover most of the cuts. it still doesn't hide the fact that the cuts are still there.

If it was my gun & this happened I would want it replaced. I informed him who to call about replacing the frame for a nominal fee.

Glock is interested in seeing the frame, lets leave it at that. Gurkha will update us all after this is over.

In my case, I believe "fluke" is certainly the word. At first I was wondering if this was common for Glocks. After researching and seeing them dropped out of airplanes and dragged behind pickup trucks I would think not. I believe I was just really unlucky and it would not be a common situation at all.

Do not get me wrong, this was never a Glock bashing thread. I was simply looking for some advice and wanted to see if this was common or not.

I still absolutely love Glocks, I think they are an amazing design. Their simplicity, both from a mechanical standpoint and a functionality standpoint are outstanding.

This situation will not deter me from making future Glock purchases. In fact, I have one more on order and I'm trying to find two others.

I stayed away from Glock for so many year and now that I have finally bit, I'm hooked!

Thanks to everyone who offered their help.

Take care guys,

Gurkha

Hi All,

I just wanted to give you an update. I met with the Glock District Manager at a Glock event today. It was a great experience and I came away liking Glock pistols and the company itself even more.

The District Manager was wonderful to deal with. He looked over my damaged frame and took some pictures. He had never seen anything like that before. It was obviously just a fluke and certainly would not be a common situation by any means. I was simply unlucky.

He said it would not affect the function of the firearm and suggested I don't bother doing the Glock frame exchange. There is a Glock frame exchange offered by Police Ordnance at a very reasonable price.

He also gave me and some other folks some great advice on Glocks including tips for proper maintenance. It was very interesting hearing what he had to say.

Since there were some nice sales going on at the Glock event and because I was really impressed by the Glock representatives, I decided to buy two new Glocks.

In the end I walked away with two new Glocks on their way for me, as well as a bunch of free Glock products including a couple bags, a couple hats, a t-shirt and recoil spring.

All in all, this experience has not tarnish my view of Glock by any account. In fact it turns out it has done the exact opposite, now I am a bigger fan of Glocks then I was before.

Thanks to those who offered their help and a big thanks to Brocolt.
