I have 3 OEM mags with my Glock 17. They all have around 1000-1500 rounds through them at this point. Last week at the range I discovered that two of them are missing a corner of the mag follower, which explains the failures to lock on empty I was having.

1) has anyone seen this before? These have been dropped numerous times during IDPA, but not stepped on or abused any other way

2) Who will sell me some replacement followers in Canada? I don't want to spend tons of money on new mags for a small broken part like this, but I can't find magazine parts other than base plates anywhere

I have had to replace 1 also but I noticed all my mags now have the number 2183-1 where as yours is just 2183. Perhaps Glock improved the follower and added the -1?

Brownells has a tool for the base plates - might be worth it to keep that kind of frustration out of your life. Looks like a bad batch of followers, maybe get in touch with Glock, (actual Glock, not the distributor) and explain what happened. I've heard of some fantastic service from the folks at Glock - and free swag (!).

Normal wear and tear if you are dumping empty mags on the ground where they belong. Magazines are consumable, replace the follower and drive on until the mag itself fails. Replace non functioning mags and repeat.

I wonder if it has to do with that bloody rivet.

I know I can barely squeeze a tenth round in there. After a couple mags, esoecially if it's cold out, I'll sometimes just call it good at nine rounds to save my thumbs a bit of discomfort. That follower must be pressed pretty hard against that damn rivet.

I'll have to take mine apart and have a look after work.

I think they are talking about the 10 round single stack Glock mag follower here. If your mag is riveted, it would be a hi cap and they have a different follower I think than the 2183 which is for the 10 round single stack Glock mags.

I think this is a fairly common issue with Glock followers. I've probably busted about a half dozen like that over the last 15 years.
