Glock 17 or Beretta 92F

I've owned both.

It all depends on how each pistol fits your hand.

It also depends on how much fun you plan to have with accessories. Glock has a ton of them.

And, don't forget repairs. Where's your nearest Glock armorer? Where's your nearest Beretta armorer?

They are both wonderful firearms.

If you are going to practice with your pistol often, then the availablity of spare parts and dealer support is important. Otherwise, choose the pistol that fits your hand best.

i had both at the same timeand had to sell one!
the beretta is the one i kept! it just feels and looks better because it's an all metal gun contrary to the glocks plastic

glocks are great and really easy to use but i really prefer the 92

I have both - stating the obvious but they are different guns - alloy v. plastic frame - weight difference, slide design difference.

Beretta
refined (i.e. take down lever, smoothness of slide)
decocker / safety
unable to stove pipe
no mag disconnect
easy to change grips

Glock
plastic covered mags
simple / durable
has rail
no "conventional" safety
easy to change front sight (need a tool but 92 its part of the slide)

Glock feels like a cheaper meaner pistol - is a personal impression.

Handle them, field strip them, shoot them...

Locking block rated for 20,000 rounds, $50 from Stoeger.

Price - both are under $700 (M9 and G17)

The Beretta if you plan on doing some dental work on yourself with the slide as the lugs shear off and send it flying at your face.

Get the one that fits you best.

Of the two, having owned both, in my case it would be the G17.

Had both, sold the Beretta, still have the G17, 2nd gen. I shoot way better with the g17. Get both and see for yourself. Either will resale easy.

I own both (well a Taurus which is an incredible Beretta copy) and the Glock is where it's at. The Beretta is heavy and cumbersome. The locking block breakage issue with the Beretta is not fun. Don't get me wrong, the Beretta is a great firearm but I prefer Glock.
