Glock 17 or Glock 19!?

Should I Buy Glock 17, or Glock 19?

And the poll is back to 50/50 lol! I guess a little more insight might help. I'd like to eventually buy the .22lr conversion kit - both have a kit available. I like the fact that the 19 is a little more compact, and probably less people have it as it is harder to get due to the barrels etc. On the other hand, the 17 would be easier to get and seems to be more popular, i.e. more things available for it? - are after market sights the same on both of them? or are they specific to each gun?

Sights the same. The slide is approx. 1/2" shorter and the frame is 1/2" shorter also. G17 is more popular because it's around $250 less than the G19.

My favourite shooter is a "G17K" - a G17 cut down to a G19 grip length. All the upsides of both the 17 and the 19.

They're both good pistols but I would get the 17, spend the extra money on mags/ammo/something useful to fill the space left after you throw away the useless plastic spacers Glock mounts on top of the slide.

If you want it smaller, chop the grip.

In fact, ideally, chop the grip, stipple it, realize it works great but has no resale value, then wonder if you made a mistake, and sell it on the EE for a major loss. I can always use another.

I know the Glock 19 comes with the "lonewolf" barrel to make it legal length for Canada. I'm assuming that is why you can shoot lead? With that being said, that implies that the stock Glock 17 barrel you can not shoot lead with. Correct?

The Polygonal Rifling in the factory barrel causes high velocity lead bullets to lead the barrel quite quickly. You have to be just a little OCD about your cleaning regimen with them. Alternatively you can ignore the leading issue until the gun goes kaboom in your hands.

Probably why it's recommended to shoot FMJ and TMJ bullets through factory Glock barrels.

Nice choice...I own gen3 and 4 17.

Can't ccw so 19 never appealed to me...plus I like the look of a flush barrel and slide.

Enjoy it...you're going to love it!!!

I like the 19 better than the 17 but I cannot justify the price difference for a smaller version of the same gun.

SO i bought a 17 and shoot my buddy's 19 every chance I get.;)
