Just recieved a g17 from another member and thank goodness i always dimantle and clean the firearm mostly just to learn about it.lo and behold there was a bullet stuck in the barrel. Just looking for some advice. I have tried to contact the member on several mediums but no reply yet. Any advice would help
Thanks

Don't use a wooden dowel. Get a 5/16" brass rod and a BFH and knock it out. Then there is the Ganderite method. Pull a bullet from a live round. Dump out 1/2 the powder. Rechamber the half charged case, point in safe direction taking care that the powder stays in the case and squeeze the trigger. You can use a small tuft of dacron to hold the powder in the case as well.

Problem handled my trusty brass rod and a hammer fixed it.barrell is ok. Seller letting me shoot it and if there is any problems will sort it out. Thanks for the quick advice on the matter

My opinion is if the 'seller' sent you a gun with a damn bullet stuck in the barrel, what else are they hiding?? I'd send it back asap, get a refund and leave them some nasty feedback. There are plenty of Glock 17s for sale.

This is the best advice on here.
I wouldn't have even bothered getting the bullet out it would have been boxed up and sayonara used G17.

which way is the proper way to knock it out ?
Hit from chamber end and knock out art muzzle or hit at muzzle and knock out at chamber ?

I’ll admit I laughed too much at this!

To the OP: Pretty messed up for the seller to do that, could kill someone potentially.

No it won't kill you. A ruptured barrel and slide is not life threatening. I bet another live round would push the first out without issue.

Shortest direction is best.

Is that even legal? I imagine it's not something s/he'd want disclosed publicly and tied to him/her. I'd ask for a refund.

What's not legal, it isn't loaded.

Unless you got it for half of what you should have paid I'd send it pack too. Negative feedback deserved for sure. Douchebag move on the sellers part. Like how do you not mention that??!!!!!

not with out an issue. That's how buldged barrels happen. That's best case scenario. Worst case is getting seriously hurt or having someone else getting hurt if they shoot the gun. Guy should be banned from EE!

Don't use a wooden dowel.

Why not? On the few occasions I have had to move a stuck bullet I think I've always used wood dowels. Also use them for slugging bores.

I agree it's unlikely to hurt anyone, but strongly disagree that firing another behind the first would be without issue. Either the second bullet will stick behind the first, or more likely the barrel will bulge or split. If you try to shoot it out, remove the bullet from the second cartridge.
