I have a GEN 3 G17. In the pistol safe I keep either a Streamlight M3 or TLR-1 light on it. When I shoot it at the range I have always taken off the light to prevent wear and tear on the light and filaments (M3).

I just read a bunch of internet postings (must be true if it's on the internet ;-) ) regarding mostly G22s with mounted lights and feed or extraction failures. Most attribute it to the stiffening of the frame which does not allow the GLOCK to flex as it was designed to do.

I will test this the next time I go to the range with a wide variety of ammo but in the meantime I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this with their light mounted GLOCKS.

I always leave the tlr-1 at home too.
I really should start practicing with it attached though.
If I start running into reliability issues I'll let you know.

if you don't shoot with the light, why the hell do you even HAVE the light?

I've never had any issues shooting hundreds of round out of my G17 gen 3.5 with a TLR-1 attached to it. It does reduce a bit of muzzle flip but it has never slowed it down.

Lights are for things that go bump in the night....

My G20 runs the same with or without a TLR-1 on it.

ya, of course. so assuming one practices as if one could use it in the most dire situation, why shortchange the practice by not having stuff on it or with it that WOULD be there when things go bump in the night?

My understanding is that the problems with lights on Glocks are limited to the .40 models.

I was not aware that mounting the light might affect the reliability of the pistol. I removed the M3 because it has an incandescent filament that can be damaged by repeated recoil.

Now that I am aware of this issue I will thoroughly test my G17 with both my M3 and my TLR-1.

I have a gen 3 G17 with a surefire x300. I have THOUSANDS of rounds down range with the light on, you will not have an issue.

Is the Glock light still available? I haven't been able to find one anywhere online lately...

Policeordanance has them in stock.

I have used a Glock 17 with both a TLR-1s and X300, doesn't effect it whatsover. I know I have seen a youtube video of someones G22 takign itself apart when it was dry fired, but may have been a lemon or something like that.

Get rid of the M3, its a dinosaur with poor light performance and delicate bulbs. Run your gun the way you intend to use it, either with or without the light. If you never shoot with the light, sell the light!

The Glock light is an oversized piece of sh*t that severely limit your holster options. Run a TLR1 or the X300.

Tlr-1 on my g21 for over a year now, no issues whatsoever, and seems to balance a bit better, or maybe it's my imagination... :)
