Glock 17 RTF and 4th Gen price check

Thanks so much for posting this. I had no idea of this discount. I just faxed away my application. WOOHOO!!

No Problem, just for the sake of educating people, the discount is available from distributors only, so that means Police Ordnance, or Sporteque.

Sporteque, quoted a Gen3 G22 at $550 + GST Shipping included, extra mags were regualar price.

Police Ordnance has not gotten back to me with a price but indicated that Magazines were also available at a discount to GSSF members and they suggested you buy more at the same time.

When you buy the Gen 4 you're still paying for the Gen 4 mags. The gun comes standard with 3 mags. They will ship the mags to the purchaser at a later date when they get them in which will probably be in a couple of months.

The mags pictured are not Gen4 Mags, the new mags have a cut out for the mag catch on either side of the body due to the New Pistols having a reversible mag release.

Police Ordinance are selling the plain 4th Gen Glock 17/22 for $555 before shipping and taxes with the LEO/EMS/Fire/Mil discount. That includes 3 magazines.

But the included 3 Mags, will not be shipped with the pistol, they will be shipped after they receive them.

The 10 Round Magazines will not be manufactured until late March or April. Once they are being manufactured it will take time for them to arrive in Canada.

Pre Gen4 Magazines are compatible with the Gen4 Pistols as long as the Magazine Catch is left in the factory default left side of the Frame. If the user wishes to reverse the Magazine Catch to the Right side of the Frame only Gen4 Magazines are compatible.

Since our Gen4 Pistols arrive with High Capacity Gen4 Magazines we can not ship these to individuals. If someone would like a Gen4 Pistol before the 10 Round Magazines arrive they would need to have or purchase pre Gen4 Magazines. We will ship the 10 round Magazines when they arrive.

Exactly. Or they will let you substitute Gen 3 Mags if you like, but of course you will only be able to use the mag release in it's standard configuration.

I'm still unsure about the Gen 4. I don't know if I should jump right in, or wait and see if there are any issues.

Has anyone with medium to small sized hands handled the Gen 4 with no backstrap? How much smaller was the grip? Was the trigger reach shortened much?

My interest is Family related as I really am not a Glock person, I'll stick to my 1911's as will my youngest. My older daughter likes them though and has been shooting a friends G17 so I will probably pick her up one when they are available.

During my research I found the following review:

Interchangeable Backstraps
The Gen 4 Glock pistols have a “multiple backstrap system,” which allows the shooter to adjust the grip size of the frame between a small, medium and large. The small size feels slightly smaller than the current third generation pistols. The medium and large increase by 2mm and 4mm respectively.

For my hand, I really liked the smallest size best. The large (for me) was just too big. If you like the size of the standard Glock 20 and 21 pistols, the large backstrap will most likely make you happy.
The medium seemed too large, yet it is supposed to be the same size as the third generation guns. Funny, I thought I liked the grip size of the Glock handguns. Maybe I just found something better.

Not sure that helps or not

I think I have average size hands, and never had any problems with the gen3 and older Glocks, but the smaller sized gen4 does make a difference. And the medium backstrap is the same size as the gen3.

Having said that, I don't think I need to get the new gen4. I really like the rtf2 frame though!
