So the last few weeks my glock 17 gen 3 has been giving me some grief with the trigger. 50% it’s fine and works great, the other 50% the trigger will fail on the first shot. I will load a full mag in and rack the slide and I know right then if it will work or not. I can tell by the trigger safety position. Normally it’s just protrudes out from the main trigger and that’s when it works fine. Sometimes when I close the slide the trigger safety will go very far forward and that’s when the trigger will not work at all. When this happens there is no weight when you pull the trigger and it goes all the way to the back and won’t reset. This will only happen when you initially close the slide. It never happens half way through a mag it’s always on the fist shot. But it is visible just by look at the trigger safety if it will run or not. The gun is completely stock other than high tension tricker spring which I have use for over a year with no problems. I don’t have another slide I can try on it to iliminate some possible ideas but I thought if someone had the same issue maybe that could some me some time and money. Thanks

So the trigger resets all the way forward, but the only thing that is holding it there is the trigger safety resting on the frame. I've done this a couple times with no slide on the gun and manualing pulling the trigger forward, you end up with exactly what you described, the safety protrudes to full extension and not how it normally does.

To me, it sounds as if the trigger bar isn't engaging on the striker.

How old is the gun and what's the approximate round count?

My concern is that if it only does it on a full mag, you may have a damaged/cracked/broken frame. When you insert the full mag, it's pushing the slide up and off of the frame just so slightly to allow the trigger to reset but it doesn't fully engage itself on the striker and you end up with the trigger holding forward on the safety

That's my theory atleast.

I haven’t tried it with a non full mag but I will tomorrow. It’s definately seen some kilometers I would say in the hundreds of thousands. That is an interesting theory, I hope you are wrong. I’m going to break it down completely this weekend and hopefully have more info. Thanks for taking the time and I’ll keep you posted
