Glock 17 upper on a G34?

Say that I've got a G34 and want to shoot IPSC production, but unfortunately I live in a country where I can't just go buy a G17 for political reasons. Can I put a G17 upper on my G34? Will it still function? Will it be IPSC production legal?

The G17 & G34 Lowers are identical, as long as you stay within the correct generation. Gen3 slides fit on Gen1, 2 & 3. Gen4 slides only fit on Gen4 Frames, Gen5 slides only fit on Gen 5 Frames.
 
Good to know. I've got a gen5. So I guess I'd just have to see who's importing uppers?
