Glock 17 using lead cast bullets with lee liquid alox, bad idea in stock barrel?

Have not tried it yet, some say you should not.
Should I only use my beretta 92fs for cast bullets with lee liquid alox?

Do you size cast bullets with the lee kit before loading, or load right out of the mold?

Considering glock says not to shoot lead in their barrels do to them having polygonal rifling do so at your own risk. Buy an aftermarket barrel if you want to shoot lead in your glock.

No problem with lead in Glock barrels. Just make sure to watch more carefully for lead fouling in barrels as it will foul faster than traditional rifling. If you clean your barrel every 300-500 rounds, you should be OK.

Glock say no reload too and i shoot exclusively reload in mine. It's a liability issu. If someone shoot lead out of a polygonal barrel and don't bother to clean it, the exessive fouling after maybe 2000-3000 rounds can produce an overpressure in the chamber area an cause a catastrophic failure of the barrel. They can't be responsible of negligent shooter for lack of maintenance of their guns so they put this disclaimer to be safe.

When I had my Glock's I used almost nothing else other then lead. As stated above clean the gun often or after every use and you will have no problems.

And fit is king. I size my cast bullets at 0.357" and have less leading in my stock G-19 barrels than in my Hi-Power or K100. Alox will smoke like the devil, but it works well.

I was shooting Lead reloads with lee liquid alox in my Glock 17 back in 1989 before there were any concerns. I never shot more than about 200 rounds in between cleanings and I always watch for lead buildup when shooting lead reloads. I have never had an issue and my G17 Gen 2 still has the factory barrel.

2 questions:

Will berry plated bullets actually lead the barrel, or we are talking about pure lead bullets?

What product do you use to remove lead? Just hoppes #9?

I use Shooters Choice lead remover formula and a small amount of elbow grease. Usually 8-10 passes with a brush does the trick on what little build up I get.

Jeez i just did like 6x 20 passes woth bronze brush and hoppes and its still not 100% clean. Means it was dirty like hell. Maybe approx 500 plated bullets since last clean.

Trick to minimize leading is hard-cast alloy and proper sizing. Lewis Lead remover or Miracle Cloth wrapped around a bush for speedy removal of any lead buildup.

The alloy needs (at minimum) to be hard enough that you can't indent it with your thumbnail. Cast and water-quenched to harden helps.
(Alloy with antimony can be hardened).

Berry plated bullets will eventually give you some copper fouling but they will not 'lead' the barrel. If the fouling you are trying to remove is copper based use a cleaning agent that is specifically for copper. Hoppes makes one and there are several others as well.

Cast bullets that are too hard will not obturate in the bore, resulting in poor accuracy. This often happens with low velocity handgun target loads. For my handgun target bullets I use wheel weights exclusively lubed with Lee liquid Alox and leading is absolutely minimal. I just finished cleaning my 9mm Kimber 9mm after shooting about 500 rounds of cast bullets. Two rounds of cleaning (scrub with bronze bore brush soaked in Hoppes, run through a cleaning jag with patch, repeat) and what little lead was there was gone.
