I have never owned a pistol, but I'm eagerly awaiting my RPAL so that I can get my first one. I've decided on a Glock 17 gen 5 because of the balance between cost, friendly-ness for left hand shooters (me), and availability of parts and magazines. I hoped to order the gun on black friday, but I'm still waiting for my RPAL so I am stuck shopping for ammo and magazines for my future pistol. (have had PAL forever, just upgrading to RPAL)

What do you recommend for Magazines? As far as I can tell there's OEM, Magpul pinned to 10 rounds, and Magpul 10 rounders made for people who live in places with mag restrictions. Are any of them more reliable or more durable than the others?

I am seriously considering getting a Ruger PCC one day too. It would be nice if the pile of mags I buy for the G17 also worked smoothly in the Ruger.

Thanks!

I have a glock17, gen 5 and i picked up two magpuls pinned at 10. Both have no issues when im punching paper at the range. I also ordered 1000 rds , 124grn Blaser Brass for $12:49 @ box. Great price and no issues with the ammo.

Thanks for all the quick feedback. It sounds like nobody has complaints about either the magpuls or the OEM ones. Maybe I'll get a couple of each while they're on sale and decide which ones to buy more of on boxing day!

ETS mags. Got 4 with my PWA 9mm AR shorty. Hundreds of rounds through them, not a single failure. Have also used Glock factory and Magpul with similar results. I would trust any of them.

Well.. I found good deals on OEM and magpul, but I let them sit in my cart for too long while I scoured the internet for more black friday things. Magpuls sold out, so it made the decision easy. Glock magazines en route!

i do...i just tried a magpul and it wouldnt fall free...now maybe that is because my gun is heavily modified with a competition magwell and all my other mags have weighted baseplates so i cant be sure....i assume it is possible to put such a baseplate on the magpul as well and maybe that would work better

Ok, now the question is where I can find good price one for OEM or MagPul?
Seems like OEM is petty standard at $40, and Magpul is around 21.99.

I took some advise from a seasoned veteran and only purchased Glock OEM mags. Never had an issue. Never used anything else so can't compare. That's worth the extra cash for OEM piece of mind (IMHO).
BTW: Gen 5 Glock17 mags will not fit into a 19x (Your second Glock) unless you get some gen4 base plates or break out the Dremel tool.

So buy Gen4 mags. Anything in the low to mid $30s is a good price.
