Wondering if anyone has one or is familiar with it? is there a big difference from a regular G17?

I was checking out Police Ordnance prices, and for an extra $50 or so I could get the 17C.

POST YOUR PICS PLEASE!!!

"C" is for compensated. Had one, loved it. I'd buy another.

how many shots before those night sights turn into regular sights ?? I would love to see how the finish of the slide handles a few K worth of rounds from all that heat.

The only difference is going to be one is good for shooting sports such as IPSC and IDPA and the other is not.

The C model is a no go for IDPA and will put you into Open division in IPSC which will be like entering an F1 race with a Toyota Yaris.

Go for the G17 it is a great gun, and in 9mm the recoil is very manageable.

The compensated models are also much louder to the shooter, as it deflects the sound back at the shooter. You will never see comp models being carried in the ccw role, as contact shots can prove disastrous for the shooter due to the compensator blast

It's a 9mm Glock. So unless you're a little girl or a 12 year old boy you don't need ported barrel on a 9mm gun.

That paper on top of the gun in those pics can be someone's face, not my idea of fun.

I had a stainless ported 9mm and it was that much more of a pain in the ass to clean as now there was always residue all around the top of the slide... They look cool but never again.

Get the regular Glock 17:

-The porting substantially increases muzzle blast for minimal recoil reduction. 9mm doesn't recoil much, anyway; learn to shoot instead of relying on gimmicks.
-The ports will tend to accumulate lead if you use lead bullets.
-Shooting from a retention position would be toasty.

Question: How many people here actually shoot from retention enough to worry about the muzzle blast? The only time i've ever had to shoot from retention is during an IDPA match, but as we all know the C-models aren't allowed anyways.

I'm not much of a Glock guy, but I do like that 17C, shoots like a .22, and has zero muzzle flip. At this point i'm waiting on a buddy to sell me his :D

Very nice points guys, I was actually gonna go purchase a g17c tomorrow. But now after seeing there is absolutely no point in having the compensators and probably just plain annoying at dusk. Thanks guys tomorrow is a regular G17 for me or maybe a G21 if I feel up to it haha.

Are they still cracking? Ports on a 9 is just a waste. Maybe on the 10, but even then it doesnt seem to be needed.

Get the standard model.

Used a buddies 19C for a course, absolutely hated the additional flash.

Just like other's said: it's just a 9mm Para anyway.

Get the G17. They don't kick anyways, no need for porting a 9mm. You also get a bigger muzzle flash as the fellow with the paper pictures demonstrated. I recently did my black badge and there was a teenage girl shooting her dad's 17 for the course. She didn't have any problems doing a good job with her shooting.
