It looks like I am going to be the owner of one of these. I think I read somewhere they are not for use in the production division in IPSC due to being compensated. What can they be used for?

No, because it's not production. There is a slight weight difference and that's not allowed, even though it won't make a difference in your performance.

Actually, you can't use it in Standard either - 'cause of the ports. It's Open or nothing.
