Glock 17L Cracked slide at ejection port

Help, went to the range today, I know it was cold, but my slide on my Glock 17L Cracked. The crack is vertical, on the small piece of steel, under the ejection port (no doubt the weakest part, with the least amount of steel. What should I do, who should I send the slide to, can I get new one? Will a newer generation fit on the frame if I got a new one somehow, I think mine is first generation. Any and all input is appreciated.

Regards,

spryan

When I worked at The Firing Line, we saw this on Glocks, mostly on early .40 S&W models. We used to stock extra slides, for warranty replacement, usually at no charge to owner. Contact a Glock warranty repair center (MD Charlton ? etc.). Or contact Glock directly for advice.

I think the gun is unsafe and you shoud send it to me (with the transfer paperwork)..Ok smart azz comments aside.

I'm not a Glock lover, but from what I hear, Glock stands by their products. Contact your local Glock dealer/Glock US or MD Charlton. I'm sure they will square up with you.

I know a shooter who experienced the same problem after many thousands of 9mm rounds fired. He contacted Glock and learned that they have occasionally seen this failure in guns which had seen a lot of use, i.e., target shooters. Glock replaced the slide and said that replacement in the relatively few cases when this occurs is cheaper for them than major re-design.

Interesting, I have heard of Glock failures in the .40cal models but not the G17, they normally go on forever it seems.

what? a broken Glock? say it ain't so! I thought they never broke and were wonderous magical devices that would last till the end of the earth.

Thanks for all the input, even the smart remarks, which I expected. How do I contact MD Charlton, where is that?
