Hello,

I'm a gun newbie and I'm trying to gather as much information as possible on this topic. I've searched the subject but it's not easy to find good info on this...

Note: For now I just want to shoot, have fun and learn but some day I would want to try the IPSC competitions at my local club in the open division.

Context:
Last year, I bought a stock Glock 17L from here: http://www.theammosource.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_3_249&products_id=4326

I am very satisfied with the gun but eventually my goal was to modify it (when I have the funds :d) and end up with something like this:https://scontent-yyz1-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...5_10154817551730471_6341918159011096577_o.jpg

ZEV parts for Glock seem to be the very best and bring the most precision improvement to a glock. Paired with RMR optics, I think I could have something pretty decent as a race gun.

Problem:
Finding ZEV parts in Canada for the Glock 17L seem pretty impossible. I'm considering selling the gun and getting something like the M&P Core that already has a RMR slide cut... I love the Glock but if I can't get any mod I want done, I don't think I can be 100% satisfied with it.

Do you guys have any ideas or experience that could help?

Thanks in advance for all input.

You might want to look at the glock MOS. These have optic cuts and plates included when you buy the gun. For zev triggers contact ctcsupplies and place an order. Another alternative is the pyramid trigger. You can order direct from the glockstore and might actually come out cheaper than the zev.

So I actually went the hard route and imported all the parts from Zev. I do not recomend this process, the boarder is tedious, exchange rate on USD is killer, and still have to pay customs.

Did I mention it's going to push the Glock north of 2k?

Check out blackboxcustoms, they are Canadian, seem legit and offer more or less the same service as the US counterparts. I am going to finish my 17 with them.

i am having my slide milled by black box customs here in calgary. should have it back in a week or two.
pretty sure they can do everything in that picture including the slide cuts, cerektoe, and frame stipple (Even install the aftermarket parts if you want).

hi j4y try glockstore.com they advertise to export to canada for 25$
they have lots of glock stuff there

If that's the route you want to take, you need to figure out how to build a proper Glock Open gun, slapping on Zev parts will not make it an Open gun

Look for places like B&B Enterprises that build proper Open Glocks.

Brian Enos forum is great for info on Open guns too, check them out.
Good luck

As far as Open guns go, you'd be better off getting a used STI Trubor or Czechmate and calling it a day.
