Glock 19 Gen 4 Problems

My new glock 19 showed up earlier in the week and I had it out to the range last night. It is a Gen 4 and was born Sept 2011.

I fired 200 rounds and had 8 malfunctions (horizontal stovepipes). Lots of wild brass ejection too - in the face, to the left, all over.

Any thought on where I should start to trouble shoot my G19.

There is a problem with the Gen 4 recoil spring and Glock is replacing all Gen 4 RSA's under the RSA Exchange Program which is voluntary with one numbered 0-4-3. But, being in Canada good luck getting one anytime soon. I called them over 1.5 months ago and still haven't received mine for my G22 Gen 4. Now back to the G19 Gen 4, the RSA is one problem and replacing it does not fix the brass ejection problem, the problem is the ejector. Glock is replacing the 336 ejector with the new one numbered 30274. The ejector fixes the brass in your face problem. But, Glock will not send the ejector out to anyone even Glock armourors. Even in the US you have to send the gun to them and they will replace it for free.

If anyone is interested, the new RSA for the G22 Gen 4 is 0-1-4 and the new ejector is 28926.

Your G20 is a Gen 3 or earlier. They don't make a Gen 4 G20. The problems are with the Gen 4's mainly the 9mm's. Screwed up they did.
 
Since your make was after July 22 2011, the recoil spring should be of the current version...but you never know.
Might want to have a look at that.
Apparently on the Glock forums...Glock 19 Gen 4 came out with 3 spring updates.
The current being 0 4 3.

Bullsh*t. If it doesn't run out of the box its a lemon. Seeing as how its a Glock, it should definitely function out of the box. I suspect some other issues are at play as has been suggested.

oh how can i forget that every pistol should come out of the box and be perfect.... so sorry for voicing my concern that any pistol to me is not broken in till at least 300-500 rounds has been fired from it, considering most gun manufacturers put it right in the instruction manual that a break in period is recommended.....

My new glock already has the newer 0-4-3 spring in it so that was already handled from factory. It does have the old 336 ejector though. Sucks they wont send it out.

Naturally the more rounds fired the smoother the action becomes, but there is no "need" for a specific break in period. A break in period is nothing more than an excuse for validating failures. A rough action(although not good in itself) stiff controls and the like are normal. Failures to operate are not.

It's either the aftermarket barrel (Wolf?) or the recoil spring issue.

I have a gen4 G22 and it's been flawless. recoil spring doesn't have any numbers on it.

My wife runs a Gen 3 G17 and hasn't had a jam. I would say it's a problem with the Gen 4 too.

I would consider buying a Norico 1911 before a Gen 4... Maybe... Well I would have to think long and hard

Glock should have only changed the ergonomics and left the internals alone. Glock Perfection on the Gen 4's....I don't know...maybe they should have tested it more before they sold it. My G22 is on it's 4th RSA update (but it's not here yet).

Its not just the Gen4's either. Some bad extractors are causing malfunctions in late-model Gen 3's too.

It has a lonewolf barrel, but I am not would affect the ejection. I have never had a problem with my other Glocks (Gen 3's).

Looks like I will have to do some reading on glock ejectors.

Yes this is the issue that has been talked about, the recoil spring. The spring is really stiff so weaker cheap ammo may not do the job. At least thats what Hickok45 says.
