Well, my first Gen5 came in today. Thanks to IRunGuns for bringing in a shipment of Glock 19s. This thread is for people who are curious what the G19 Gen5 looks like with pinocchio barrels. I haven't fired mine yet. I still have to find some range time. The G19 Gen5 from IRunGuns comes with the SilencerCo threaded barrel (4.5" I think). I bought a separate IGB non-threaded barrel a long time ago to put into my G19 Gen4. And that barrel will be my main barrel for the G19 Gen5.

Recoil Spring

Not sure if they will run with no problems. The Gen5 recoil spring is approx. 2mm longer than the Gen4. Also the markings are different. Just FYI.

G19 Gen5 Magazine fit

In case you are wondering. Here's the difference between the Gen5 magazine vs Gen4 magazine on the G19 Gen5. Yes, the Gen4 mag fits in well and locks back normally. The Magpul GL19 magazines also fits in well (not pictured - sorry). Note: Top photo is the Gen5 mag, bottom is the Gen4 mag.

G19 Gen4 Magazine fit

And just for giggles and FYI, here are pics of what the Gen5 mag looks like in a G19 Gen4. It seems to function normally. Again, I haven't been to the range. Note: Top photo is the Gen4 magazine, the bottom is the Gen5 mag.

Finishes

Here are 4 different finishes. The hardest (ie. durable) finish on the glock is the old robar-style treatment or whatever it is they called it back in the day (you guys are welcome to correct me on the nomenclature). Many people will say that it can only be found in the Gen3 glocks. However, there are some Gen4 glocks out there that came with this durable finish before Glock switched over to the more enviro-friendly finish. Below the pic is as follows (from left to right): Glock 19 Gen4 (factory Cerakote), G19 Gen5 (DLC), G17 Gen4 (weak finish), Gen17 Gen4 (durable finish).

How do you like gen5 grip compared to gen4? I have a feeling I wouldn't like that grip cut out where the pinky would sit...

Oh also have you tried G17 barrel in gen 5 G19? I heard they're now have same locking mechanism, probably why recoil spring assembly is different length.

Congrats on the purchases. Very interested in the Gen 5 19 as well.

Is that IGB barrel specifically made for the Gen 5 G19? I ask because my understanding is that the 19 barrels from previous generations apparently aren't supposed to work in the Gen 5 Because of locking block differences. The Gen 5 guns all apparently use the larger locking block from the 17.

The fingerless grip is amazing in my opinion. My pinky clears the cut out.....Just. again I haven't been to the range. So under recoil the story might be different.

The g17 gen4 barrel will not fit in the g19 gen5 I think. I believe it's the g17 gen5 that will fit. And I won't have a g17 gen5 for another month or two.

No. That would be the g17 gen5 not being compatible with g17 gen4 or lower and vice versa. The g19 gen5 I received came with the silencerco barrel that is also the same barrel I got for my g19 gen4.

Thanks for the nice review and comparisons. As for the finish on the Gen 3, I most often see it referred to as the "frying pan finish" since it looks like those super tough frying pans you can cook rocks in. It was the best finish Glock ever used and I am curious to see how the new Gen 5 finish holds up but it has to be better than the last one which scuffed if you looked at it too hard.

I agree. I prefer the look and feel and durability of the tenifer slide finish.

Looks good, I've got my sights on a Gen5 19. I'm hoping for some to come up here with better sights from the factory.
If you don't mind my asking, how much all in?

About $906 including conversion, taxes, shipped to my door. It took about 2 weeks for cfo to clear the paperwork. As you know irunguns charges in USD even in their Canadian site. So ymmv on the conversion rates.

EDIT: I made a mistake. There are 2 charges on my credit card from IRunGuns. $906 plus $82. So total is $988 shipped to my door. The pistol was in stock in their Alberta store, and the delay was due to the CFO filing the paperwork.

So far so good with the new nDLC finish. No scuff marks to speak of. Yes, there are a lot of smudges. The old "frying pan" finish had the same problem. But I'll take a smudge over a scuff any day.

I'm wondering about the accuracy. How tightly does each barrel lock up?

Once you've had a chance to shoot, please let us know about your results.

Not that tight I'm afraid. But then again, both of my G17 Gen4 with stock Glock barrels have a very similar lock up tolerance to this G19 Gen5 with the IGB barrel. But I'll say the G19 Gen5 with the IGB barrel is more loose. The SilencerCo barrel greatly tightens the lock up for both the G19 Gen4 and Gen5, but I feel the lock up is still more loose in the Gen5 but very slightly.

When I first got a Gen4 I thought that it was more accurate than the Gen3, but it turned out that the variable was the OEM barrel. My aftermarket barrels are less accurate.

How have they not rounded the frame to match the slide yet!? Literally any other company would have realized their mistake and fixed it.
