Glock - 19 versus 17 in Canada

The 17/22 (Production Division), 17L/24 (Open Division), and 34/35 (Standard Division*) all have the same grip. The advantage of a longer sight radius goes to the 17L/24 (Open Division), the advantage of compactness goes to the 17 (Production Division).

And, if they all have more grip length than you need, you might prefer the 19/23 (either Standard or Production Division, depending on barrel manufacturer).

* Can anyone explain to me why the 34 and 35 are not on the IPSC Production list but the STI GP6-C, even with an way-extended barrel, is on the IPSC Production list? (And it's an apples to apples comparison, IMO.)

If you have large hands you should try out a G19 before you buy one. I like the G19 but it is out of the question for me because my hands are to large. The frame and grip on a G21 fits me like a glove. I ended up with a G17 for a 9mm pistol.

so i got a chance to handle and shoot a Glock 34 today! whee!!! being a newbie, i'm not sure whether the things i like / dislike about it are significant or not.

like the overall size, grip size is nice, trigger is ok (not too heavy, but not super-light either - i was expecting it to feel lighter), sights (dot and |__| line) are REALLY easy to use and line-up, weight is nice and easy, slide / mag controls are very nice

dislike the grip angle (seems angled a bit too forward), recoil is a bit snappy but not too bad (guess the light weight makes it react more)


got to shoot a bunch of rounds through a Browning HiPower as well, and the weight is nice to absorb some of the recoil but gets to feel a bit heavy after a while. didn't like the sights on the BHP either.
 
The 34 trigger is the lightest trigger a stock glock comes with...3.5 lb, most other glocks without mods come with 5.5 lb triggers....you can change a glock trigger pull for roughly 15 bucks, so its not a biggie
