Glock 19 vs 17

I got skinny medium sized hands. The 19 grip length is a tiny bit short but still gives perfect comfort and control, IMO.
I love the balance of the 19. If I were to do it again, I'd choose a 19 over my 17RTF
 
Pretty sure the question wasnt "I'm looking for a CCW pistol, should I pick 17 or 19"

The whole "there is no need for a compact since we dont have CCW here" is the same argument the antis are using for all the things called firearms.

Mag capacity isnt an issue since we're stuck at 10 no matter what...

So it comes down to personnal preferences basically and how one gun feels in the hands vs the other.

You're welcome. I went through the same dilemma as the OP a few years ago and read LOTS of articles. This article was one of the best I found. At first I had bought into the hype and was pursuing a G19. But then my good friend who owns one who let me try his G19 G4. I just really didn't like that I couldn't find a comfortable of a grip on it. Funny thing is; there really isn't that much difference in size between G17 and G19. As per the article, the G17 is actually smaller and lighter than many other "full size" service pistols on the market.

I'd encourage anyone who is serious about a Glock but can't make up his/her mind to actually shoot one. Just handling the gun isn't enough, in my opinion. The upcoming "Glock Days" at Calgary Shooting Centre on Easter weekend in April is the perfect opportunity to try shooting ANY Glock for relatively cheap.

Incorrect! Looking at statistics and statcan for murders in 2015:
Canada - 1.68/100,000
Northwest Territories - 11.34/100,000

Chicago - 477/100,000
New York - 352/100,000
Baltimore - 344/100,000

We are still below the USA and other countries. Yes, the NWT is high, but that is also due to the low population rate compared to other provinces. Still it is no where's near the murder rate in the USA. Bringing up crime victims is totally insensitive as nobody can really speak for them or provide an assurance for what they have endured, all I was stating is that we are a much safer country, and I really feel we have no need to carry as we do not have the crime that others do. I am proud that I live in Canada, just because of that!

There you go again speaking for everyone else.

You should be saying something along the lines of "I really feel no need for me to carry a firearm".

Chicago, New York, and Baltimore are not states. Also those numbers are WAY off. Not even sure where you are getting them from. Chicago= 21 per 100k, New York = 8.2 per 100k and Baltimore = 50 per 100k.

There is no American state that has a murder rate above 10 per 100k and yet both NWT and NU have a 11 and 14 per 100k murder rate.

And yes, by stating you live in a country where concealed carry is not require you are speaking for everyone. The people murdered, assaulted, robbed, and raped in Canada may disagree with you about the need for concealed carry.
 
Looking at your location I now see why this is such an issue for you. You live in Saskatoon, Canada's most violent city. Did you know that Saskatoon has over 3 times the violent crime rate that the USA has?

Here are the statistics:

Saskatoon: 1331 violent crimes per 100k

USA: 372 violent crimes per 100k.

Tell me again how you don't need concealed carry.

It's nice that YOU feel that way. There are over 100,000 victims of violent crime in this country every year. Those people may FEEL differently than you do about how much crime we have and if CCW is necessary or not. How are you so arrogant as to assume that your situation is the norm and that others should be denied the right to self defense because you FEEL that it isn't necessary?

You miss the biggest reason why CCW should be legal - freedom. I am an honest, moral person, I have no criminal record of any sort. I have never initiated violence against another person in my life. Yet my government denies me the right to own whatever property I want and the right to carry what I want on my person. There is no justification for that whatsoever. It's not about NEED, it's about the freedom to choose for yourself what your personal requirements are.
