Glock 21 or 20

Once upon a time Wolff barrels could be had for a small premium over US pricing then Questar got pissy and ruined it. The other source gave up and didn't renew his import permit or whatever. Some sections of the community are more concerned with profit above anything. That was several years ago, Questar has new management from what I hear but, I'm still kind of annoyed at that.

meh, S&W M&P has a better 45 than the G21

the argument of 10mm vs 45 comes down to several factors.
saying one is better than the other just does not cut it.
you need to know what you want to do with it, what your resources are, do you reload or will you be reloading?
if your just punching paper or do you have a need for a wilderness carry for your work or trapline?

here is a interesting article comparing the 2 nicely. (click me!)

i have probably a dozen 45's and i have 2x 10mm's and i can say without a doubt i shoot more 10mm than i do 45.
for me velocity and versatility is king.

There's no such thing as an M&P that's better than a Glock

some people find their cousins attractive enough to fiddle with..... its still not right.
im not saying that Glock fanboys are inbred.
im also not not saying it.

:)

you cant argue Glock's are dependable guns.
you also cant argue that Glock's are the most uncomfortable and UN-ergonomic of the modern poly pistols.

Had both. The .45 is considerably cheaper to shoot, as I do not reload. Both felt about the same in hand when shooting. I will give the nod to the 20 being a little more accurate in my hands...but too expensive to paper punch with regularly unless your monthly ammo budget is thick....;)

I'll agree with that. I like my S&W M&P 2.0 better than my Glock 21. Then again, if I lived somewhere I could open carry without a mag restriction of 10 rounds I would opt for the Glock 21 then due to the extra 3 rounds.

Get a G21 and if you really want 10mm, buy a conversion barrel.

+1 for me.

IF we could wilderness carry and or hunt.....the 10mm would be top choice.

Since all we can do is blast cardboard....sometimes steel but even that is getting pissy with the CFO's.....

45 makes the biggest hole to see in the cardboard.... :)

A G20 with a 40 barrel would be a cool option....40 is just a fraction cheaper than 45 and not terribly more than 9......and shooting 40 in the G20 is nice...nicer than the G22

Before my house fire I had barrels and conversions to fire

10mm (obviously)
.45 ACP/Super
.22lr
.400 Corbon
.40 SW
.357 Sig
9x25 Dillon

Not many platforms can offer that sort of range. Not too terribly important in a civilised society but as a SHTF gun I was pretty happy with it. Since the barrels are now easily twice the price and much harder to find I haven't gotten around to rebuilding my kit.

A quick google search shows FACTORY loaded 10mm with 180 grain projectiles range in velocity from 1030 to 1230 fps.

I reload .40 cal with 180 grain Berry’s target hollow points or hybrid hollow points, over 7.5 grains Long Shot. Hodgdon says that’s good for 1150 fps. Still have to verify that velocity with the Chrony though. That’s way over the usual 1000 fps 180 grain jacketed truncated cone factory loadings.

I think that Long Shot load packs a decent wallop and could feel a substantial recoil increase over factory 1000fps loads. With the added power, accuracy happily remained with in the same 3 - 4 inch 15 meter groups I got with the slower loads.

I no longer aspire to own a full 10mm pistol.
