Am thinking of getting a Glock 21 manly because I have bigger hands and find that double stack 45s fit me better. What are the pros and cons of a glock 21? and how do they shoot?

P.S. I want to hear from people who have one or had one and NOT what you have heard from a friend or magazine

Glock 21

I like Glocks and really like the 45 ACP. Since I have fairly big hands the 21 was a natural for me. While I also love my 1911s I find the 21 fits me well. It is certainly not a bullseye gun but I find that with the right loads it is very accurate and well suited for IDPA type shooting. I only wish I was in the US so I could take full advantage of its 13 round capacity.

P.S. I have some spare 21 mags for sale too (please excuse the shameless plug)

G21

I had a G21 and I would shoot 200gr lead SWC out of it with exteme accuracy. Considering it's lightweight compared to steel 1911's, the recoil was on par with them. The low bore axis does make a difference. If the grip feels good for you, you'll love it.

I have a G21 and Kimber Eclipse. I love both but Glock has the softer recoil. It's a great gun and I've never regretted the purchase. I also have a 10mm conversion for it so you can get two guns in one.

I love mine, it's a gen 3. I've prolly put about 5000 rounds through it. Not a single hiccup. I hated the stock sights, swapped them out for some Heine Slant Pro Straight Eights. Shooting lead is not recommended....I did it once. Never again. It was only 50 rounds, but the barrel leading was unbelieveable. Took forever to clean it out. The 10 round mags are really 9 rounders'. The trigger takes a little getting used to, polishing the bits helps with the feel. Its a very accurate semi, very easy to live with. The heavy slide and high grip make it a light recoiling .45ACP. The guide rod and recoil spring are a cheesy, but I've never had a problem. To me, Glock's are the Honda Civic's of the gun world. Mass produced, simple to maintain, reliable, all function.....no flash 8) .

Re: Glock 21

Hello,Currently I own a Glock 21 and I have had 3 Glocks all in 45ACP over the years, including a Glock 30. They have all been accurate, reliable and tough as nails.Although it is advised to not shoot lead through the stock barrel---I have shot thousands of lead rounds through one in batches of a 1-2 hundred---cleaning it each time---with no problem.Presently I use a BarSto barrel for lead. They are the ultimate in simplicity of design such that they are breeze to clean---my Springfield Armory V16 on the other hand is a pain to strip.

You'll need some strong thumbs to load up the mags and big hands for the grip. It's very soft on recoil and a pleasure to shoot, and accurate enough for just about anything. It (obviously) has the infamous glock trigger, but it can be improved with polishing, even a 3.5# connector. I switched back the 5# connector and actually like it more.

Some people have the plastic sights break off, this hasn't happened to me but I don't really abuse it much. Finding aftermarket sights may be a little harder as the 17/22 are so much more common.

I've got 45's in 1911, Sig (220), and the G21.
The Glock is the softest recoiling of the three, and certainly 'combat' accurate.
As noted, they are dead reliable..and indeed, the 10 rounder are 9+!
If I could only have one handgun...it would be a Glock...and it would be a 21!

I have a Glock 21. My hands are between medium and large. I don't have an issue with the grip size. Like others have said it is the softest recoiling gun out of my semi auto .45's (Para SSP, Sig 220). It is not only easy to shoot but maintain as well and is very reliable. I don't have any issues with the factory trigger and the only complaint/observation I have is that the grips can get rather slippery if your hands get wet but this can be be easily remedied with skateboard tape or a rubber Hogue styled sleeve (have seen people use bicycle inner tubes). I am one of the newly 'converted' as this is my first Glock.
