Glock 22 for ipsc or switch ?

I would just go ahead and shoot it. You're not going to be a Grandmaster on your first outing. There's a lot to learn before you start buying and swapping equipment, and you could potentially fall into the trap of trying to resolve software issues with hardware.

Of course you could just keep the 22 AND buy a 17 to use as your competition gun ;)

In reality, the 22 has the minor disadvantage that you'll be shooting snappier .40SW while all the other kids will be shooting those re-coil-less 9mm in Production. If you can handle the snap and get quick split double taps, then do it. Other disadvantage is ammo cost. 40 is just more expensive to either buy or re-load, so if you plan to shoot a lot, say over a 1000 rounds per month, it's going to add up to some $$s whether you re-load or buy factory.

If you were thinking of shooting Standard, then the 22 has some goodness, it's an easy way to get into Major, and score some additional points if you can. You can also do a couple more things to the gun in Standard (that you can't in Production).

I had a G22 a couple of years ago and sold it to buy a G17 for competition. I've since moved to a Tanfoglio for competition as I really like the single action trigger over the stock glock.

It's a decision you should try to make before you start competitions as you'll end up buying a bunch of mags, and possibly different holster if you decide to switch.

Your first comment was helpful, but what makes you think I have never used my firearm in another type of match ? Lol

To be honest, your first post seemed to infer to all of us that you were not that familiar with the Glock of the Shadow.

Doesn't matter, just that's what I got out of it. He wasn't being a smartass.

I have been shooting IPSC for about 11 years now. A lot of people have an interest in IPSC. Some people actually do the black badge. A few actually show up to a club match. But only a handful of people become passionate about the sport.

When I started I shot my black badge with a 1911 A1. It is what I had. Would I have been better off buying a CZ SP01 shadow at the time perhaps. But for all the other people on that course it would have been a waste of money as none of them stuck with it. I would suggest you shoot what you have.

Folks tend to buy the latest and greatest, myself included, but you can reach grand master level with a glock.
