Glock 22 Gen 3 or Gen 4

Thinking about getting a Glock, but which one, looking at the 22 with an eye towards using a down size barrel for 9mm ,but still want the .40 option. I want both in one gun.

So, which one? heard the gen 3 were kind of hinky in the .40cal and that the early Gen 4 were having trouble in 9mm, so not sure how a Gen4 22 would run with a down size 9mm barrel unit.

All I do know about Glocks are they're ugly, look like lego, are plastic and work...mostly.

So the Gen4 should be good with a Lone Wolf Barrel Glock M22 Conversion to 9mm barrel, would I have to swap out the return spring for this?

ETA; meant to say recoil spring.

recoil spring? maybe, but if you load on the hot side you'll probably be ok

never shot a gen3 but had a gen4 and loved it. hardly any recoil sold it but am going to buy another one.

In the .40, I would go with the Gen 4. I also much prefer the smaller grip of the Gen 4.

I have been told by those who have shot the Gen 4 with factory .40 ammo that it is easier to control than the older model.
