I am trying to remove the floor plate of my G22 magazine I follow the instructions but no luck! Is this magazine made this way so extra capacity cannot be added? I just want to add some of my own custom bumpers for IPSC not add capacity by the way in case anybody is wondering. Thanks!

If you look closely you will see that the plug on the bottom is not all that holds the floorplate on. On the sides of the mag and the sides of the floor plate there are little tabs that lock in place. You have to either squeeze the magazine real hard or use a tiny flat screwdriver to pop those tabs out so it will come apart.

The floorplate retainer also serves to reinforce the walls of the magazine body from it's interior. To get the magazine body compressed enough to clear the locking tabs, you have to push the floorplate retainer way the hell up into the magazine. Push it far enough up and you might be able to compress the magazine body enough to slide off the floorplate.

Sound hard? Nah, it's easy if you have three hands.

Thanks for the help. My first problem is the plate with the button will not push up into the magazine even with the Glock tool it seems to be hanging up and will not push far enough to allow me to use the tool to as leverage as I squeeze with my finger and thumb:mad:

try to shove the tool not straight up but towards the back of the mag and then when it shoves in, just lever the mag plate back

It took the Glock tool and two mini screwdrivers (one on either side of the plate to pry it apart). First magazine was a royal pain-in-the-a**, but by the fourth I had it nailed. When they say insert the Glock tool and 'really wrench it forward', they're not kidding!

It seems very difficult at first, but it really is not. Depress the centre floor 'pin', place the very corner of the mag base on a solid table corner and push with a good deal of force. The base plate will pop right off without damage. You need to use enough force that you think you will break something, but you won't.

The base plate, spring etc. will go flying. After the first one, the process is very easy.

/\ Best method.
