Hello all,
Thinking about getting a pistol in .40S&W and just wanted to hear everyones thoughts on the two I have narrowed it down to. I've never fired a .40 but the balistics are very apealing to me. I have shot an MP9 and found it to be very enjoyable but have never even held a glock, I do plan on getting my hands on one before I make my final choice but just wanted to see what everyone thinks of both of them. I'm also already set up for reloading, so I can tailor my loads accordingly for each of them.
Thanks in advance for the info.

Sounds like you are pretty squared away. Both guns are excellent. 40s have quite a bit more bite than 9mm, so get ready for that.

I own both the guns you are looking at and prefer the Glock soley for it's better trigger feel, especially the reset.

Make sure when you find a Glock to hold that it is a Gen4 as I find they are a big improvement over the Gen3s

But you can get the apex kit for the MP.
Really it comes down to preferences. Which one feels right in your hands. (they do have different "feels" to them.)

If you ever find yourself out west. I will put both in your hands.... hope someone inNB can make the same offer foryu.

I've had both ....

'Prefer the Glock - personal thing I guess, but the one M&P I owned had a few issues - never had an issue with any (I've got 4) of my Glocks.

I'm on the other side. M&P for me. I shoot glocks great, and have no issues with them, I just like the feel of the M&P better. Try both if you can.

Apparently the new model M&P's have much better triggers.

I would stick to 9mm. These days, .40 just doesn't offer much over the 9mm to offset the ammo costs, sharper recoil, and (in most cases) decreased pistol service life.

That being said, the M&P would be my choice in .40. Glocks in .40 have historically been more problematic compared to their 9mm counterparts.

Glock 22 .40 S&W and a 40-9 conversion barrel.

Best of both worlds.

I have a G22 Gen 4 and have never had any problems of any kind with it. Love it. I have shot a friends M & P and much prefer the Glock which didn't seem as snappy to me. I guess it's a personal thing. Either would be fine.

dont do like i did i got a 40 and sold it less then 2 weeks later was a jericho RPL and 9mm or 45 is the way to go not to mention 40 dose more ware and tear on a pistol
just my 2 cents not to mention its snappy most ppl and LEO are going back to 9mm or 45 acp

M&P 40 ! Better looking without a doubt. Great quality, great trigger already and easily upgradeable . And you can reload your brass without having the Glock bulge to deal with because of their sloppy chambers !

I have both and both with .40 to 9mm conversión barrel as well, G22 has lonewolf and M&P40 has the storm lake. both shoot lovely
with M&P, I also just upgraded to Ápex flat faced trigger which makes it better than glock overall. otherwise, out of box setting, the difference is mainly with the grip due to the hand fit. the trigger is a Little bit more crisp on g22 than M&P, but it never affected me in anyway. I shot them both quite accurately.

40 sure wears out guns so much faster. Yeah tell that to my 1911 Para that has seen 20k rounds, my Tanfoglio that has at least 15k rounds.
Please stop spreading misinformation. There are a lot of IPSC/USPSA shooters that will disagree with you especially the guys that use STI Edge.

As for the more snap yes it does but then when you are limp wrist then yes its a problem.

Yeah but comparing a 800 dollar gun vs 650. He could always get a Pro/Core version and it will beat out a stock Glock.

Both are good and I own both.

G22 for parts and after market parts availability and trigger but Micky Mouse Have to Keep Up With The Jone's/cheasy back straps and beavertail

M&P 40 for ergonomics and cleaner integrated palmswells and beavertail
