I've read of a few owners on GlockTalk that have complained about a crappier trigger on their Gen 4 G34s, take that "information" for what it's worth. Personally, there aren't enough improvements to the Gen 4, for me, to make me want to own one instead of an older Gen 3 but your mileage may vary. When in doubt, shoot them both before opening your wallet.
I am very new to Glocks , I bought a Gen 4 34 , it runs great and it will outshoot me .
The interchangeable backstraps and larger mag release were would sold me on it .
The new swappable backstraps and grip texturing are pretty nice, IMO. I think new mag release, while it also feels nicer, is a tad unnecessary as I haven't heard of too many southpaws complain about the older style of mag release and having to press it with their index or middle finger. But the complaints I've heard of the new recoil spring assembly and the trigger bar give me pause, but then again, most of that is just forum talk anyways.
I don't think the Glock design was necessarily ruined by the introduction of Gen 4, though forum posters may point out it's "bugginess", I just think the changes aren't significant enough to jump on the Gen 4 bandwagon either.
to me the gen3.5 RTF2 is the perfect glock... since I cannot find one at the moment I now own 3x gen4's and the texture of the grip is what won me over.
so far no bugginess out of my G17, but have not shot the G34 or G26 gen4 I have yet.
