I have a Glock 34 with adj sights and have had challenges shooting it accurately and I think I hsave finaly figured out what is bugging me about it.

The rear sight opening is wider than other guns I can shoot better. What I mean by that is the rear sights are farther apart leaving an air gap between the rear sights and the front sight, which throws me off. I like the G34 for other reasons and really want to try to continue to shoot it, but I think this "air gap" has a lot to do with me not getting a good, reliable sight picture. I already have a fibre optic front sight on the gun.

Is there an aftermarket sight that has less of a gap between the rear pieces that would close up this air gap?

Thanks

Your issue is entirely you, sorry but its true. The gap/space along side the front post when viewed through the rear notch has very little to do with poor marksmanship. There was an article in last month's or maybe the month before issue of SWAT where a contributor tested this very issue. With the front sight all the way left and all the way right within the notch of his m&P full size, he noted an impact change of approximately 4" at 25 yards. That was with the front sight all the way left/right in the notch, or "touching" the rear sight for a sight picture. What's more interesting is that he conducted his test with a sub compact and had near identical results, which goes to show that "sight radius" is a gimmick/excuse used by people who simply haven't mastered the fundamentals. A minor deviation of the front sight being left or right of "true centre" is not going to produce noticeable error down range.

Your likely issue is one of two common ones or both. A flinch, and/or poor trigger control. Aftermarket sights and wonder products won't help you learn and master the fundamentals, this goes for adjustable sights as well. All they do is cover up some of your poor form. After that your performance will stop improving and the frustration will return. A high visibility contrasting front sight like the FO you have is a good setup which aids in finding the front sight faster and easier. However, without proper form and proper training you won't improve and you will endlessly chase the problem with part after part.

Yes, you have to look for a narrow notch rear sight (e.g. Sevigny Competition Rear Sight w/.130 wide notch [normally .150 wide notch]).

What height did you use when you replaced the front sight? That could also be the source of your problem, lol.
