As the title says I’m looking for a Dovetail mount for mounting a Vortex Venom on my Glock 35 Gen 3 non MOS by removing the rear sight. I have after market barrels in both 9mm and 40. Thought it might be nice for local 3 gun.

I can’t seem to find anything in Canada. Anything I can find is either Amazon or eBay. Usually made in China with bad reviews. Ones worth getting are in US and most won’t ship to our gun friendly country.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Pre JTs idiotic ban I had a 34 MOS in my hand but didn’t pull the trigger. Too late now.

Thanks.

I suggest you avoid the dovetail mounts and get a slide cut. Much better in every way.

I was hoping to avoid that if at all possible. But if I end up going that route any idea where to get the slide milled? Dang I should of grabbed the 34 MOS.

leupold makes a micro red dot that fits in the rear dovetail of glock pistol. its a great sight,,,, I have 3 one on a glock 2 on m&p it can also double as a ghost ring sight if the battery ever dies... I find that if you are used to iron sights this is the sight to have comes right to my eye no searching

Snubbie I’ll have to re examine the Leupold. I just thought it was too small of an opening but I have been shooting irons on a pistol for over 45 years. What kind of shooting do you primarily do with yours?just thought it might be awkward for double taps or speed shooting. They do look like they have a solid mounting system.

Thanks bigmouth I’ll look in to it as an option.

Good info here so far: Black Box would be my preferred shop for milling the slide, and the Leupold DeltaPoint Micro would be my preferred no-mill alternative.

I wouldn't expect any dovetail mounted rails to last (the Leupold sight is very different). There are frame mounted optic rails, but they are inferior. The other option you should consider is to track down an MOS slide, or one that has been milled already. It may be difficult, and it might take time, or it might not. You might even find a complete G34 upper (milled or MOS) for a reasonable price.

If you do get it milled, remember to factor in the cost of getting it cerakoted as well since factory Glock slides are not stainless.

So curious if anyone has a dovetail mounted red dot that is working for them? Sounds like it may not be the way to go based on no recommendations. I’ll maybe have to reconsider which way to go. A number of options listed to follow up on. Eyesight still ok for irons just thinking for down the line.

I spent enough time looking into it to convince myself that an optic on a dovetail-mounted rail is not a serious option. It will work fine for a short time, but the mass of the optic and mount is simply far too great to attach to a reciprocating slide with just a dovetail. Dovetail mounting a rail onto a fixed receiver, like the Ruger Mark pistols for example, it's a different story.

The Leupold DeltaPoint Micro is different because of the way the sight is supported on the top of the slide (not just in the dovetail), and apparently holds up just great.
