Glock 40 to 9mm

OK. Good to know. I fired a few single shots, but don't have the mag to test it properly. I got the impression the empty was falling out the bottom, instead of ejecting, so thought maybe the spring was too heavy.

The stock spring is the same for both at 17 pounds. I have run up to 22 pounds without issue in my 17 but I stick to 20 now.

This only applies to the Gen 3's and earlier models. In the Gen 4's, the recoils springs are different 0-1-4 (G22) vs 0-2-4 (G17). I changed the RSA in my Gen 4 to a G17 spring for the 40-9 conversion.

Are they a different weight? Even so I suspect that either will work fine.

To be honest, I'm not sure what the spring weights are for the Gen4's. But, that being said, Glock had reliability issues (FTE's) in the early Gen 4's because they were using the G22 RSA in the G17's. The spring was too strong. So after 4 different spring changes, they came up with the right combination of springs in the dual RSA for both the G17 and the G22. That's why there are 2 different spring numbers for them.

The 40 cal mags handle the 9mm ok? I don't have the 40 mags on hand at the moment, so can't play with them.

Is it possible that the empties are falling out the mag well because the 40 cal ejector or extractor does not work properly on 9mm cases?

I used to have a Gen4 G22 and a LWD 9mm barrel for it...ended up selling it as a combo after getting a gen4 G17 since I mostly shot 9mm...

I ran a 9mm RSA and G17 mags with a 9mm barrel, less hickups that way.

You'll want to use Glock 17 magazines. You can stuff some 9mm into the G22 mags, but they just don't sit right or come out of the mag right. Kinda sucks since Glock mags are so dear.

No hiccups filling my .40 glock mags with 9mm.

My G22 mag springs are pretty stiff. I have charged them and left them to sit for a couple of weeks to loosen them up a bit...trying to get rounds 9 and 10 in is a bit of a challenge. I can get 13 rounds of 9mm in them, but the last couple don't sit quite right and can easily pop out. Hopefully, loosening the springs up a bit will help here as well. I haven't used them yet, but will likely give them a try this week.

We've done some testing on the Glock 22 magazines. They will hold and cycle 9mm, but you will be very hard pressed to get many more than 10 rounds into the magazine. It might be ok in a life or death situation if you have no other choice, but for Glock mags in particular we'd recommend using the proper mag to match your calibre.
