Glock 44 Ammo?

Thank you for the advice.

On the advice of another member, I watched Plnkster 22 and he said Federal Punch was his very favourite 22LR cartridge.

I will check out our sponsors to see if any of them have Federal Punch.

I was going to get about 1,000 rounds of CCI High Velocity and 1,000 rounds of Winchester Super X; I think that I will scale back those numbers; try them and if I can get Federal Punch, try that as well.

Thanks again.

Great News

I found Federal Punch 22LR at a retailer who is about 3 kms from my house.
At the moment in Canada .22 ammo is hard to find, you got lucky there lol
I have thrown a lot of ammo thru my G44 and a few other .22’s over the years and for the G44 I use CCI Mini Mag 40gr RN exclusively, they are by far the most reliable round imho. Buy 1000 rounds, or better yet 5000 if you can find it and you are set, I gave up playing with cheap .22 ammo years ago, way less irritating to get good ammo and stick with it.

Great comment.

That's why I started the Glock 44 ammo thread; there are so many conflicting opinions. The salesperson says don't use low velocity; then a member says he uses low velocity CCI and never has a problem. I only got my PAL a year ago, so I am a real novice and I really value the opinions of the Forum Members. I have ordered 3 pistols (two 9MM in June / July and the Glock 44 last week); who knows when they might arrive. As has been referenced hundreds of times here; Ontario is not very quick on transfers. The good news, I did get my Rossi R92 and look forward to some range time with it, while I wait for the pistols.

I own a lot of 22 pistols - but not a Glock.

First, don't make any hard, fast decisions until the gun has broken in.

In the beginning it may require high vel ammo, but after it is broken in, stnd may work best.

My pistols are most accurate with standard velocity. I use CCI Stnd vel and the Aguilla stnd.

22 guns tend to do better with some ammos than others. After it is broken in, try a few different brands and find out what works best.

If I was in your shoes, i would start with a brick of CCI Mini Mag and then, later, try the CCI stnd vel.

CCI with 1200+ velocity ..

Mini-Mag, Stinger, Clean-22, Stanger, Tactical, Varmint (Quik-Shok), Velocitor ... copper-plated or coated ...

out of this set prices permitting ..

I was thinking CCI High Velocity; perhaps 500 RDs is enough.

I was reading the comments on the Sponsor Forum about Ontario transfer times; since I only ordered in late June / early July, it looks like my transfer will likely occur in October / November. I belong to an outdoor only shooting range, so my first shots are liekly to only occur in April. No sense of doing a big order when I won't be able to use any of the pistols for close to 8 months.

Thank goodness for my Rossi R92; otherwise, my membership ends in July, 2023.

Thanks for the advice; the CCI Mini Mag is 1,235 FPS, whereas the Maxi Mag is 2,200 FPS; I was only thinking the Mini Mag cartridge.

Quite certain this isn’t .22LR (?), but .22 magnum. I was also interested in a glock 44, but realized there was no way my RPAL upgrade could be processed in time, so decided not to bother trying. Oh well… I’ll live vicariously through this thread lol.

I've seen nothing but failures with the g44. Shouldn't have to stand on one leg, touch your nose, wiggle, wink and sneeze just right to get 10 shots off reliably. If Taurus could do it, no reason Glock couldn't. Glock messed up on these ones.

My G44 is temperamental but I only shoot W or R bulk ammo in it and force it to deal with that anyway. By which I mean that part of a good handgun drill is learning to deal with misfeeds and jams of all sorts- check with best practices on the internet- and mine is a great training gun for that. Not as good as an S&W M&P22 of course but still plentiful.

Thanks for the advice; I never thought of the price going up. I have so much to learn. This Forum is outstanding; people who love the sport and are happy to share their experiences.

Thank-you.

What I think I will do is go with CCI High Velocity, and then oce I have fired 500 + rounds; then try a box of two of CCI Standard.

The gun's hicups, are only when using rounds that don't match the cycling pressures, needed to work smoothly. Like having an adjustable gas block on a semi-rifle. Because my G44 slide is heavier (from gluing on a red dot), I use stronger than standard rounds, to cycle it fully.

You'll notice how smoothly your new G44 will work, after the first 1000 rounds too. Especially the trigger pull.

;)
