There is a Glock 44 for sale at our LGS, just wondering how many folks have tried one out and what their thoughts were? Poking around the Internet and it seems there have been some extractor issues and I'm just wondering how prevalent the issue is? Anyone have any experience with Glock repairs in Canada, as in where and by whom for warranty stuff (good or bad experience)? The other offering they have is the ISSC MK22 with a compensator and I'm equally unsure of this one.

I have shot both but I will speak about the Glock 44 as I own one. I am up to 4000 rounds with all types of ammo Mini Mag, Blazer 40 grain and 38 grain, Winchester M22, CCI Standard Velocity and even ThunderBolt without any issues. A handful of times while I was using CCI standard velocity after I fired the last round it ejected but the slide did not lock back. It could have been my thumb resting on the slide release as I have been known to do that. My vote is for the Glock 44. It truly is a fun plinking gun.

Thanks for the input. I'm VERY glad to hear the number of rounds you have sent through it with no extractor issues being present. I know the quality of Glock is more tried and true than the ISSC so while it may not be fair to compare the two, those seem to be my options locally. Considering the economy and how our LGS's are being hit, I will spend the extra coin and support them .. just want to make a somewhat informed decision on the purchase.
 
I thought it's just SA, there is no hammer or de-cocking lever. How ever I'll be the first to admit that's the extent of my knowledge lol as in I've only ever seen DA with a hammer and de-cocking lever. A quick Google search says that both striker fired and hammer fired pistols can be DA .. so it's possible. If 9.3 Hunter has handled one, I'll take his word for it.

Well .... I "pulled the trigger" on the Glock and paid for it today .. now the waiting game until I can actually pull the trigger.

Nope, it is not a DA/SA gun. The 44 like all Glock pistols is a DAO striker fired affair.

All Glock pistols by definition are double action only.

The G44 is an easy choice over the ISSC.

I need to set some time aside for a range day. I topped up my .22 stock and beside the Glock 44 I picked a nice very lightly used Ruger Mark 3 Target (bull barrel) and a new S&W Victory.

Nice. I have a Victory and it is accurate and very easy to take down. The Mark 3 is a great gun as well until the take down part. After a few times it wont be a pain to do. You made some great choices.
 
The Glock 44 is a great gun.
Very reliable with ammunition it likes.
Keep the chamber clean and try a few different brands.
Mine likes Federal blue box and Remington Thunderbolt bulk pack. Chokes a bit on Winchester bulk.
Doesn’t extract that great after it gets real dirty. Remember.22 ammo is filthy from the bullet lubes so be sure to clean regularly.
I did shoot the ISSC and it was accurate but not particularly reliable. It also doesn’t fit Glock holsters and accessories so the G44 makes a lot more sense for aftermarket.
