Ok so I bought a G48 MOS and I'm just trying to clarify a few things regarding the factory slide cut and optic compatibility as well as looking for opinions/information on what would be a good setup with this gun and optics available for it now and in the future...

Right now I am toying with the idea of having the indexing lugs modified to allow for a Holosun 507k, since this would be free and done with the dealer selling me the pistol. I am a little wary to have an MOS slide milled though, can't get around the idea this defeats the purpose of MOS, and I am still wondering if this will leave me locked into using the Holosun and unable to swap this optic out for one that's made to fit the G48 MOS, like the Shield RMSc.. I keep getting conflicting information regarding availability of adapter plates for G48... Is this a better option if they exist?

Ideally I'd like to find a way to cowitness the irons with a red dot, I know I'll have to replace the factory irons to achieve this, but I'm trying to determine if having it milled vs using an adapter plate (if available) will make a difference for cowitness.

Thoughts? Any other optics not on my radar currently that would be a better idea?

I'm only really aware of the RMSc and HS507k for these subcompact pistols.

Thanks in advance!

The plates put the red dot so high you’ll need suppressor sights for any cowitness. The Romeo 0 uses the shield RMSc footprint so it’s a contender.

Milling for a hs407/507k is not ideal as I think they take two of the lugs off and lower the screw posts a bit. They also might have to lengthen the pocket.

I kinda feel like you stick with the right footprint or buy a non-mos and mill for the sight you want, if you want the best of all worlds anyways.

Why they couldn’t have done this cut for the RMRcc I don’t know.

I think that you are asking the "right" questions, I agree that there is a "gray" area about plates and direct mounting options? I believe that the 507k will direct mount, but there will be a gap. The CHPWS plate from Brownells is another option. I think in the long term the plate is the way to go personally, and I wouldn't want to mill the MOS slide either. Good Luck.
