Hey people ,I currently have a .22 1911 Sig, and I'm looking for something lighter.
I was thinking I could get a 17 or a 19 ,and get a .22 conversion for it.
I see Irun guns sell the uppers and lower , but it looks pricy.
So, my question is, should I get the 9mm and buy a conversion? Or buy it all separately?
And should I get the 17 or the 19 ,as my kid will be using it as well.
.22 for him and 9mm for me:)

Also I see that the gen 3 are cheaper. Are they good to go ,as well

Thanks

Depends on how much you want to spend I guess.
You could buy both separately or save some money and buy one gun and a conversion kit.
I have a Glock 17 Gen 3 and a conversion kit that functions very well and is very easy to convert. Just swap slides.
As for sizing for your son, I don't think there's a difference between the 17 and 19 as far as trigger reach goes. The size difference is in the slide/barrel and grip lengths. I'm sure someone will correct me on that if I'm wrong.

Thanks, I think weight is what I meant them. G17 is lighter , right?
Can you buy a .22 Glock ? Or do I have to get the 9 first, then the .22 conversion.
That would work out better for me,as I'm replacing a 1911 .22.
I can get the 9 mm conversion ,later on.

The 17 is the full size and the 19 is the compact.

If it's for your kid, I'd recommend getting a Gen 4 (small grip size with adjustable back straps).

Silver bullet's point of "how much you want to spend" is definitely a big factor. If it was me I would get the 17 Gen 4 and get the conversion kit separately. The reason being that conversion kits for the 17 will be much easier to find compared to the 19. For most people the .22 conversion kits are a training tool and often a alternative to shooting the more expensive calibers. If you sell it in the future, it might be easier to sell the kit with a complete firearm.
